Chapter 5
I pulled out the divorce agreement I had prepared in advance from my pocket and threw
it at her feet.
This was something I had wanted to do ever since the day I saw her and Kieran together.
Ottilie’s face turned pale. She wanted to take the microphone to control the noisy atmosphere, but she also wanted to grab my arm to explain properly.
“Jude Wilson, are you so unable to bear seeing me happy? Haven’t I already told you? As long as you don’t mention this matter again, we can live well as a family of three from now
on.”
A family of three?
The family of three in her mind could include anyone but me.
And I no longer wanted to deceive myself.
“Just sign it. There’s nothing more to say between us. I wish you happiness.”
Ottilie shook her head vigorously.
“I won’t sign. I don’t agree to divorce you, Jude Wilson. Don’t even think about it!”
Actually, when I had contacted the lawyer earlier to draft the divorce agreement, the lawyer had said I could demand that Ottilie leave with nothing.
After all, she had openly had a child with another man during our marriage, which was
clear evidence of adultery.
But the time it would take to gather evidence and get a court ruling would be too long.
I was about to leave the country, and even if I had that much money, I wouldn’t have anywhere to spend it.
So I just took the portion of assets that should rightfully belong to me and entrusted the

lawyer to donate it all to hope primary schools in rural areas after I left.
There was nothing more to say between Ottilie and me.

Looking at the chaotic scene, I turned to leave, while Ottilie, unwilling to give up,
the child to her father and was about to chase after me.

But before she had taken more than a few steps, Kieran, who had been fine moments
ago, suddenly clutched his chest, gasping for air.
“Ottilie, I feel terrible. I think the shock was too much. I really might not make it.”
“Kieran, are you alright? Hang in there, I’ll take you to the hospital right away!”
She could only watch helplessly as I strode away, thinking that once this was all over, she could talk to me properly.
As long as she didn’t agree to the divorce, our relationship would never be truly over.
Thinking this, Ottilie felt a bit more at ease.
The group hurriedly took Kieran to the hospital, but on the way, Ottilie’s father also
seemed to have his heart rate accelerate due to the emotional turmoil.
Ottilie was on the verge of tears, not knowing who to comfort first.
Just as Mr. Parker was about to be pushed into the operating room, they ran into the hospital director and the most authoritative cardiac specialist.
At this point, Ottilie couldn’t care about anything else. She rushed over and knelt in front
of the director.
“Please save my father, he’s in a really dangerous condition right now. There was someone named Kieran who queued up to make an appointment with you before, do you
remember?”
The specialist stared at Ottilie for a long moment before tentatively asking:
“You’re Jude Wilson’s wife, aren’t you?”

“He contacted me earlier through Director Luo, saying he hoped I could take a look at his father–in–law’s condition. At the time, I saw your photo on his phone and praised him for being filial. But I remember he came to me a couple of days ago saying the check–up wasn’t needed anymore. What’s going on now?”
Hearing this, Ottilie froze, her eyes filled with confusion and shock.
They had never believed I had the ability to contact a top specialist, thinking it was all Kieran’s doing. Only now did they realize they had misunderstood me all along.
In that moment, Ottilie didn’t know what to say.
The director gently pulled her aside, his face apologetic: “I’m sorry, Miss Parker, but we have to catch a flight to the US for a conference soon, so we won’t be able to participate in
the surgery. But please rest assured, our medical team here is the best in the city. We will
do our utmost to save your father.”
With that, the two left one after another.
I only heard about this incident later from the director.
Ottilie knelt outside the operating room, while her mother beside her was full of regret.
“What did I tell you? Even if Jude Wilson was shameless, he wouldn’t joke about something like this. None of you believed me, and now look what’s happened. If anything happens to your father, you’ll be the one to blame!”
The angry shouts scared the baby in her arms, who began to cry loudly.
Mrs. Parker roughly placed the child on a nearby plastic chair.
“What are you crying for? Crying all day long, as if we’ve given birth to an ancestor!”
But Ottilie was beyond caring about anything else.
She slowly took out her phone, wanting to call me.
Perhaps now, I was the only one who could contact the top specialist to perform the
surgery.

But my phone was completely unreachable.
Because at that moment, I had already boarded the plane heading abroad.
My head rested against the window, watching the scenery gradually recede until a
backward inertia carried the plane into the blue sky.
I even had a sense of unreality.
From this moment on, I no longer had my own nationality. I would dedicate myself to the
whole world…
