Chapter 9
I glanced at the var nearby, and hile he wasn’t paying attention. I grabbed it and smashed it over his head with all strength.
Arthur fell to the ground, blood streaming from his head, his body convulsing.
With all his might, he clutched at my clothes, broken syllables escaping his throat.
“Don’t call the police, please help me one last time.”
I sneered, stepped on his face, took my phone, and quickly called the police.
I had implanted a chip in Lucy’s wrist, so the police quickly located her in the basement of Arthur’s newly purchased villa.
The police apprehended all suspects present in the operating
room.
I picked up Lucy from the operating table and couldn’t hold back my sobs.
Lucy cupped my face, pressing her forehead against mine, comforting me.
“Mom, don’t cry. It doesn’t hurt at all.”

Sophie heard the commotion and rushed out from a corner, anxiously asking the doctor.
“Did you take the kidney out? Answer me quickly.”
“The surgery wasn’t performed.”
The bespectacled doctor calmly replied.
Hearing this, Sophie widened her eyes in shock, and I was stunned too.
She snapped out of it and started cursing at me.
“You heartless witch! You’ve been plotting with these scumbags to harm Karry all along, haven’t you?”
“Who knew you were so devious!”
“You killed my daughter, and today I’ll kill you, you insane bitch!”
Sophie, in a frenzy, charged at me, her eyes filled with murderous intent.
The police subdued her effortlessly.
I slapped Sophie over a dozen times.
With her face swollen, she screamed she would kill me.

The doctors, upon learning Lucy was tricked into surgery, unanimously decided to cancel it.

I took Lucy for a thorough check–up; all her organs were intact.
Lucy’s words confirmed the doctors‘ findings.
I issued a letter of forgiveness, and all the doctors were released without charges.
I wanted Sophie and Arthur to go to jail.
But Sophie wasn’t involved in the case, so she was cleared.
Arthur, being Lucy’s biological father, had his serious criminal case downgraded to a civil one.
A month later, Arthur showed up at my door.
His face was clouded with sorrow, head hanging low.
He choked out, “Karry is dead!”
I immediately shut the door.
That’s not my problem.
Later, Sophie appeared near my house with a knife. Seeing me, she went berserk and charged at me.

Arthur begged me for a letter of forgiveness, saying that as mothers, I should understand the pain of losing a child.
I refused, and Arthur presented Sophie’s mental health records.
In the end, Sophie was exempted from punishment.
