Laura staggered backward. Her body trembled and she lost all its strength. She could not stop panicking in her heart.

I had nothing more to say, so I hung up, removed the SIM card from my phone and tossed it into the trash. I had kept the number active solely for this call. I was just waiting for her call to say goodbye.
I grabbed my suitcase and walked away without looking back.
