Chapter 7
“Our whole family depends on that business to make a living! You casually saying a few words cut off our entire source of income. Isn’t this forcing our whole family to die?”
“My son sighs at home all day long! You’re about to drive him to his death!”
I frowned. I knew what kind of person my father was. He would never do something like that. If he wanted to end a partnership, he would make it clear to the other party, not just stop without a word.
“My dad must have had his reasons for ending the partnership. Why are you coming to me?”
“Don’t lie! You did it on purpose! You’re holding a grudge because I hit you on the train. Tell your dad to sign the contract with us and give me $7000 for medical expenses, or else you’ll regret it!”

Her tone was so self–righteous that I couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh. I had reached the limit of my patience and didn’t want to talk to her anymore. People like her make you wish you could turn back time.
I regretted ever taking that high–speed
train.
Even the police officer recording our statements looked exasperated. “Isn’t this just emotional blackmail? Why are you dragging this girl into business matters?”
“So, not only did you hit her, but now you’re trying to guilt–trip her into forgiving you and signing the contract so you can keep making money? You want all the good things for yourself, huh?”
I nodded internally. Precisely, why should this old lady get everything?

complain to?
After the police took our statements and gave us some advice, we were allowed to leave. Before leaving, the granny shot me a glare but said nothing. I rolled my eyes. Ridiculous.
At dinner that night, my parents asked me about it. After listening to my story, they frowned. “What’s gotten into Finn lately? Doesn’t he try to stop his mother from acting like that?” my mother wondered.
My father shook his head. “Does he really not know? Hard to say. I bet he doesn’t have the guts to confront me.”
My parents had been busier than ever, often coming home late at night.
“Yvonne, check the trending topics online. You’re being cyberbullied!” I vaguely heard my friend’s phone call and instantly opened my eyes wide.
What? Was I being cyberbullied? How did I get caught up in something like this?

I grabbed my phone and found video after video of me circulating online. One clip showed the old lady kneeling silently that day. Netizens were outraged and started digging into my personal information.
“What kind of family raises a kid like this? It’s disgraceful.”
“Why hasn’t anyone dealt with her? That poor old lady.”
“I cried watching this. How much suffering did that old lady endure?”
“I know her. She’s from a wealthy family and has a terrible temper. She bullies people at school until they drop out!”
In no time, my personal information, even my school, was exposed.
“She’s won all these awards? Reported. Who knows what dirty tricks she used to get them? Reported.”
“If I were in her school, I’d be ashamed.”
I was furious. I hadn’t even said anything

yet and now I was at the center of a storm of cyberbullying.
Before long, my counselor called, launching into a tirade. “What’s going on? You’ve just gone on break and already caused trouble? Apologize and resolve this quickly. Don’t drag the school down with you.”
