We Are Divorced Remember Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Unknown’s POV

The room was suffocating, the walls seeming to close in around me as frustration gnawed at my insides. The smell of whiskey andle air clung to the room, a fitting backdrop to the fury building within me. My fingers dug into the arm of the chair, knuckles whitening as I struggled to contain the anger that threatened to boil over

It was the third time nowthree attempts, and yet she had somehow managed to slip through my grasp each time. Emily should have been dead by now, yet she was still out there, alive, mocking me with her very existence

Sim stood in front of me, his posture rigid, but I could see the cracks in his composure. He was supposed to be one of the bestan expert in his field, a man who rarely failed. And yet here we were, with nothing to. show for it but failure after failure

Why is she still alive?I demanded, my voice low but laced with venom. I didn’t bother to mask the contempt I felt. Sim had one job, and he couldn’t even manage that

Sim’s eyes flickered with unease, his hands twitching slightly as he tried to explain. I almost had her,he began, his voice betraying the frustration he felt. But her bodyguard arrived just in time. It was close, but I couldnt finish the job.”

I took a step closer, my gaze never leaving his. Do you think I’m a fool?I hissed, my anger sharpening my words. You think I don’t know what’s really happening? Since the beginning, all I’ve gotten from you are

excuses

Sim’s face hardened, a flicker of defiance in his eyes. I’ve never failed like this before,he muttered, more to himself than to me. he’s been incredibly lucky.”

Lucky?I echoed, my voice dripping with disdain. Or is it that you’re losing your edge?”

He didn’t respond, but the silence spoke volumes. It was clear that Sim was as frustrated as I was, but frustration didn’t bring results. Results

were all that mattered now

The room was stifling, the tension between us thick enough to cut with a knife. I could feel the anger coiling tighter in my chest, and with a sudden, violent motion, I grabbed the glass of whiskey from the table and hurled it against the wall

The sound of shattering glass echoed through the room, the shards. scattering across the floor like jagged pieces of my patience

Sim flinched at the sound, his eyes widening slightly as he took a step. back. Please,he started, his voice edging on desperation. Give me one

more chance. I won’t fail this time.”

My frustration boiled over, and without thinking, I grabbed the nearest objecta heavy bottle of whiskeyand threw it at him with all the force

could muster

Sim barely reacted, not even attempting to dodge as the bottle struck him squarely in the face. The sickening thud of the impact was followed by the shattering of glass, and he staggered back, blood trickling down from the fresh cut on his forehead. He didn’t say a word, didn’t protest. He knew better than to argue with me when I was like this

I began to pace the room, trying to rein in the fury that was threatening to consume me. I needed Emily dead. Her continued existence was a constant threat to everything I had worked so hard to achieve

But with her billionaire exhusband playing the knight in shining armor and the

police now involved, the situation had become far more complicated than I had anticipated

Killing her wouldn’t be enough. I needed to eliminate every obstacle standing between me and my goal. Sim was just one of many tools at my disposal, and if he couldn’t get the job done, then I would find someone else who could. But before I discarded him, there were still a few loose. ends to tie up

A slow, dark smile crept across my face as an idea began to form. It was risky, but at this point, I had nothing left to lose

Sim, still clutching his bleeding face, looked at me with wary eyes. What’s the plan?he asked, his voice muffled by the hand he held over his injury

I glanced at him, a flicker of something close to pity crossing my features

Your blood was left at the scene,I said, my voice eerily calm. The

police will trace it back to you, and then to me. We need to clean up the mess you’ve made.”

Sim’s face paled, the gravity of the situation finally sinking in. He nodded. slowly, understanding the weight of my words. There was no room for error anymore, no time for second chances

Emily must die,I continued, my tone resolute. Even if I have to do it. myself.”

The finality of the statement hung in the air, heavy with unspoken promises of violence and retribution. There was no turning back now. I would see this through to the bitter end, no matter the cost

Sim’s eyes flickered with something that might have been fear. He knew, as well as I did, that there was no escaping the situation now. His fate was tied to mine, and failure was not an option

You need to take care of the evidence,I said, my voice cold and detached. No loose ends. If the police get even a hint of your involvement, we’re both finished.”

Sim nodded again, his expression grim. He knew what was at stake, and I could see the determination in his eyesthe determination to survive. I’ll handle it,he said, his voice steadying. And what about Emily?”

I turned to face him fully, the smile still playing on my lips. She won’t escape again. This time, I’ll make sure of it.”
