Chapter 28
It was a stillness that carried the echoes of war–a silence heavy with blood, rage, and pain. The earth beneath me was soaked in crimson, a bitter testament to the battle we’d fought. Rogues lay scattered like broken toys, their lifeless forms splayed across the ground. But this was not over. Not until he was dead.
My body was a coiled spring, every muscle taut, every nerve on fire. I stood in the center, my fur white and gleaming under the
moonlight, my silver eyes locked on the treeline. Each breath came fast, shallow, the primal instincts of my Lycan blood urging me forward, urging me to end this.
And then… he appeared.

The Rogue King. He prowled into the clearing, his massive black wolf shimmering his dark fur rippling under the moon‘ s cold light. Confidence radiated off him in waves- an arrogant, twisted pride that dripped from his amber gaze as he surveyed the
devastation around him. A mocking sneer pulled at his lips, daring us to challenge him. The sight sent a sick thrill of hatred spiraling through me.
“So,” he snarled, his voice a venomous drawl that filled the clearing, “the mighty Alpha King and his precious Luna… resorting to traps and ambushes.” He threw his head back, laughing, a sound as sharp and cruel as a knife‘ s edge. “Did you really think you could take me so easily?”
A growl rose from my throat, low and furious,

vibrating through my chest. My fur bristled,
hackles raised, as every fiber of my being screamed for vengeance. This monster, who’d wreaked havoc across our lands, who had mercilessly slaughtered innocents… he would pay.

“You think you’re untouchable?” I snarled, voice thick with fury. “You defiled these lands and left them stained with the blood of innocents. There’s no place here for a creature like you.”
The Rogue King‘ s laughter rang out again, sharp and biting. His eyes glowed with a wicked light, relishing the rage he saw in me.
“You know nothing, child,” he spat, a twisted grin spreading across his face. “I’ve tasted Lycan blood–your Beta‘ s blood. And it has made me stronger than any of you

could ever imagine. This territory is mine now.”
The words hit me like a punch to the gut, my father’s name twisted into a weapon in his mouth. Rage pulsed through my veins, a burning fire that consumed every other thought. Without hesitation, I lunged, my body a blur of white against the darkness. My claws stretched forward, teeth bared, every inch of me fueled by the power of my bloodline and the need for justice.
The Rogue King met my attack with equal ferocity, his massive form moving with deadly precision. He blocked my strike, his claws swiping toward me, but I twisted mid–air, using his own force to propel myself around him. My claws sliced through his side, blood spraying across the ground as he stumbled,

A snarl tore from his throat, his amber eyes blazing with fury and–was that fear I saw flicker there? But he recovered quickly, baring his teeth in a twisted sneer. “You think Lycan blood makes you special?” he spat, circling me like a predator. “Your father’s blood runs in me now. His power is mine.”
I fixed him with a cold, unyielding gaze, my voice deadly calm. “You‘ re a fool if you think my father’s blood could ever truly belong to you.”
This time, I didn’t hesitate. I lunged again, moving faster, my strikes sharper, more calculated. My claws tore across his chest, my teeth sinking deep into his shoulder. The taste of his blood–bitter and metallic–filled my mouth, but I didn’t care. I pressed on,

relentless, each strike driven by the weight of every life he’d stolen.
He tried to retaliate, but he was no match. My Lycan blood surged, giving me strength and speed beyond what he had anticipated. I moved like a storm, a relentless force he couldn’t outrun or outfight. Blow after blow, I left him bleeding, stumbling, faltering. I could see it in his eyes–the dawning realization that he was outmatched.
A flash of movement caught my eye, and I saw Damon, my Alpha, my protector, guarding my flank. His dark wolf was a fortress, a fierce wall of protection at my side. Every rogue who dared approach met his

growled through the mind link, his voice a calm, deadly promise. His strength, his fierce presence, only fueled me, gave me the final edge I needed.
I turned back to the Rogue King, and now I saw desperation in his eyes, his movements sloppy and strained. His breaths came in ragged gasps, his bravado slipping away like smoke. He staggered back, his voice
trembling as he tried to cling to his illusion of power. “I am the Rogue King! I… I am stronger than all of you!”
I took a step forward, my eyes narrowing, my breath coming in steady, measured gasps.
“You‘ re nothing but a coward,” I said, my voice low and venomous. “You used others, hid behind their lives, twisted my father’s blood to fuel your pathetic ambitions. But

that power is not yours. And tonight, you pay for every life you stole.”
With a final snarl, I lunged, my jaws closing around his throat. I felt his body thrash, his struggles growing weaker, his power slipping away as my own strength overpowered him. His blood filled my senses, the metallic tang of justice.
And then, as victory hovered within my
grasp, a voice cut through the night, a voice I never expected to hear.
“No! Father!”
