Chapter 8
I smiled and exhaled. This will be the start of my tale of revenge.
I’ll be marrying the richest and strongest Alpha. Even Beta Richard blinked when he saw my fiancé and a flash of fear crossed his face.
Xaden and I stared at each other’s souls. My wolf howled in joy and whispered,
“Mate.”
“Mate,” Xaden choked on the word and rushed to lift me up in the air and hug me so tight I cried.
I was rejected by twins, only to be mated to the strongest Alpha.
And with that, I remembered the time the mating bond snapped between me and Xeus and Xavier. It was that time when Xeus confessed to me that he loved me. Xavier also became very protective of me since then.

But with Lucille‘ s manipulations…
“We reject you, Louise Black. We, Xeus and Xavier Zane, reject you.
The pain from the rejection lasted for weeks, even for a month. And then Lucille pushed me off the stairs and the pain. worsened as if my soul would now gladly leave my body despite it still breathing.
“Will you marry me?”
“What the fuck-”
Xaden let go of me, only to kneel and ask for my hand in marriage.
My uncle arrived and my mother and Grandma Reid squealed in excitement. My uncle and Beta Richard just clapped.
“Of course, you–yes!” I fanned myself and jumped in delight. “Yes, Xaden Reid. I’ll marry you.
The crystal and diamond ring was quite heavy as he slid it on my finger.

My eyes reddened as tears escaped my eyes. “Louise, please don‘ t cry. The moment I saw you in the hospital I knew you were my mate. You‘ re meant to be mine.”
Grandma Reid patted my shoulder. “I promise, in the Crystal Tears Pack, you will never be wronged. Unlike that pack where you grow up.
My uncle’s smile vanished. He knew what pack she meant.
My uncle definitely wishes to punish the Zane twins but me and my mother just blocked his way.
“If we counter with violence, that will make us no different from them,” my mother pleaded.
Xaden looked a bit like Xeus, and my heart ached at the resemblance. “Let’s get married,” he whispered in my ears.

Our departure from the pack became a month–long stay.
Xaden showered me with gifts. And day by day, my skin brightened. I was no longer pale and gaunt. I was no longer sickly and thin.
I’m now blooming with health and surrounded by joyful people.
Every gift from Xaden and his pack is a rare treasure of enormous value. They all showed me utmost respect and affection as if I’m already their Luna.
Xaden, every morning, kisses my forehead. He’s the sweetest male I ever met aside from my father. Though I heard he’s ruthless to his enemies and even to those
who breathed the wrong way to the ones he loved.

They said I’m only allowed to live with mom until the wedding. Xaden and I, upon marriage, should be given enough time to develop our relationship gradually.

“The packhome for the Alpha and Luna is all set,” reported one Beta.
“You two handle things your way. We, your pack elders, won‘ t interfere.” Grandma Reid winked at me, “Just remember, if my flower–loving grandson ever dares to mistreat you, don’t be shy to come and tell me.”
Xaden laughed beside me. “Thank you, Grandma Reid,” I breathed.
Both of our packs, the Dark Tide Pack and the Crystal Tears Pack, were busy with the wedding. But I was worried that I would feel nostalgic over my departure from the Zane family or regret about the past after leaving the Blood Ruby Pack so suddenly.
However, with constant dress fittings and diamond wedding ring selections, I was so busy that I collapsed into bed each night. I was too exhausted to think about anything else.
Xaden would constantly mind–link me if I

myself. I all replied with a yes and a chuckle of joy.
Day by day, I began to let go of those people and memories from the past. From Xeus to Xavier to Lucille, I let them go.
But Fate has more plans. One day, while trying on wedding dresses, I received a call from Luna Shea.
“Louise,” she started, her voice a bit hoarse. “When Xeus and Xavier heard that you’re really getting married, they insisted on seeing you. I tried to stop those two knuckleheads but they were probably almost there by now. Just ignore them and carry on with what you‘ re doing. Call your guards and Betas if they ever show up.”
Hearing their names made me pause and swallow. But before I could even hang up, I saw their reflections in the mirror.
I
gasped and shot right to my feet.
