Even though I didn’t know what I‘ m saying, somehow Lucille became
immensely scared. Which means…
‘She’s definitely hiding something, my wolf growled.
Slowly, Lucille backed a step until she turned around and sprinted away.
Only the twins remained and the elevator doors are opening and closing. Xavier dragged me out and dropped me right in front of Xeus. “Apologize to us, now!”
I had thought they would finally let me leave, but they still refused to let me go. I could not stand it anymore and yelled,
“Never!”
The word barely left my lips when Xavier lifted his leg and stomped on my injured leg. Pain exploded and seared through my body as if my bones were about to crack and my blood were about to boil.

“One day, you and your brother will be crawling to me while asking for my forgiveness!” I hissed.
Xavier only chuckled. “Remember this, Louise. This is the price of hurting Lucille. Unlike my older brother, I will not indulge. in your temper and bullying anymore.”
“And what do you call this?!” I snarled at the
e younger Zane twin. “You‘ re the one bullying me! You‘ re the one abusing me! Can’t you see? Lucille is just manipulating both of you. Where did she even go?”
Xavier blinked as if realizing what he just did. “Louise-”
But Xeus dragged him away and I was left there on the floor, bleeding. Groaning and whimpering. The elevator doors behind me opened and closed.
As I curled up on the ground and pain blocked my thoughts, there was one thing that lingered in my consciousness: my debts to the twins had finally paid off.

“Miss? Are you alright?” A kind passerby found me and rushed me to the emergency room despite still being in the hospital‘ s premises.
After confirming that there were not any major injuries on my body, I hopped on the car Beta Richards was driving, ignoring the throbbing pain in my swollen ankle. I refused to look back.
The Beta repeatedly asked for my forgiveness for not being there to protect me. The incident reached the Alpha and Luna of the Blood Ruby Pack and my uncle declared a cold war between the two packs.

The next day, the news of my marriage to the Alpha of the Crystal Tears Pack became the top trending topic on all of the packs. After twenty years, I now returned to the house I was born in.

My uncle was dead worried about me and even told my mother that we should avenge me by attacking their pack. After all, Alpha of the Blood Ruby Pack still has debts unpaid to the Dark Tide Pack.
My mother begged him to leave the pack untouched as Luna Shea was there too.
Looking at me and my mother, my uncle eventually calmed down and we both had a family hug.
After lunch, I received a message from Xavier. I didn’t know how he got my number. “Are you running away from us again? Fine. I forgive you. Get your ass back here. Lucille needs someone to wash her clothes.”

“Louise, where are you? Why does the fiancée of the Alpha of the Crystal Tears Pack have the same name as you?”
After I read both of their messages, I turned to look at my mother and uncle flirting on the dining table. I didn’t think twice to block the twins‘ numbers.
My mother looked at me with concern in her eyes when I bit my lip in dismay. She sighed, “Tell me, how did you get into this mess?”
I could not bring myself to tell my mother what had happened to me at the Zane family and…and Lucille.
Living as a guest in someone else’s house was not the hardest part. And yes, sometimes it feels like I’m some prisoner. Like I’m some collateral. But the hardest thing was the soul–shattering heartache when falling from the peak to the rock bottom upon Lucille‘ s arrival.
She quickly ensnared the twins and held

“It’ll be okay, Mom. It’ll get better.”
My mother reached for my hand. “One day, your scars on your body would finally heal and all the rights or wrongs, the grudges and heartaches would fade away too. It would be best to throw them all behind you and embrace the new beginning with all your heart.”
I just nodded even though, deep down, I know it’s difficult to do.

The next day, mother and I visited the Crystal Tears Pack. The pack elder and the Alpha’s grandmother came to greet us.
My heart was pounding with anxiousness, but the moment I saw Grandma Reid, I felt a total calmness.
Everything about her whispered kindness and softness and gentleness.
When she saw me, her smile broadened.

She kissed my cheek lightly. “My lovely granddaughter–in–law! Finally, we met! All these years, I’ve been telling your mother to bring you to me more often so I could see you. Yet, she’s kept you hidden like a precious secret treasure.”
“She is a treasure,” my mother purred.
“Oh I know, you’ll be an exquisite Luna.” She turned to me and couldn’t stop admiring everything about me.
I smiled politely in return. “My health has never been good. So I stayed in the Blood Ruby Pack for a while to recover.”
Grandma Reid waved an idle hand. “It’s okay. Once you and the Alpha are married, Xaden will make sure you get proper medical care. He left for a pack business right now so I’m afraid he will be late for a few hours. Don’t worry, after the
wedding, he’ll make it up to you. Worry
about giving me my grandchildren as early as I’m alive.”

My mother and Grandma Reid laughed but I just smiled sheepishly.
Come to think of it, I hadn’t even met my future husband and fiancé yet. But he did not show up that day.
However, when my mother and I were about to leave the pack the next day after a day of reverie and delicious meals and pleasant laughter, Alpha Xaden Reid showed up on the pack mansion‘ s doorstep.
And my surprise cannot be painted–he was the kind passerby who took me to the emergency room when the Zane twins and Lucille ambushed me in the elevator.
