“You did what?!”
Seeing the pitiful state I was in, the pack hospital’s Head Doctor was angry and could not stop herself from scolding me harshly. “You just got out of the hospital but you managed to get yourself into this state in a matter of time already? Do you even realize the condition of your health? You‘ re an Alpha‘ s daughter. You should bear a child as soon as possible!”
I did not dare to argue with my doctor so I obediently stayed in the hospital for a few days of observation. I called my mother that I was admitted here in the pack hospital and that she shouldn’t be worried. Although a day later, she visited me physically along with my Alpha uncle.
Mother did really change my uncle and somewhat tamed him for all those years I’m gone.

Once my fever finally vanished, I was released. And Luna Shea visited me.
“I knew that I had lost a lot of time because of this health of mine so I’m trying to make it up by moving forward with my plans,” I told her.
With a bitter laugh, I tossed that part of me that urged me to call Xeus and Xavier that I was hospitalized after that incident with Xeus hitting me. But I realized I shouldn’t be worried sick thinking about how to explain why I was in the pack hospital to them. They don‘ t care if I was alive or
not.
“Can’t you really convince the Alpha to let Lucille and her mother leave?”
She shook her head. “Even Lucille’s mother is worming her way to my mate‘ s attention. Like mother, like daughter after all. You aren’t the only one bombarded with worries, Lou.”

engagement with the Crystal Tears Pack‘ s new Alpha. He’s a good male, better than my bewitched sons.” She coughed at that as if she too hated Lucille‘ s presence in the Zanes‘ mansion. “My dear child, I
hate to see you go.
“I’ll visit you whenever I can.” Her tears. started to fall and I caressed her cheeks.
“Thank you for taking care of me all these years.”
“It’s my fault you‘ re like this. I was too busy with work and didn’t take better care of you…” She sighed, “I even foolishly hoped you could be my daughter- in–law, but now…those stupid boys don‘ t deserve you.”

quite jealous of us too but she just smiled her feelings away. They definitely are. bestfriends in all aspects the word can be.
“I won’t be able to attend your wedding, but I genuinely hope you‘ Il be happy.” I didn’t hold back my tears as I hugged Luna Shea.
In all my years with the Blood Ruby Pack, she had treated me like her own daughter. “I did really love him, Luna.” She knows who I meant. “But he chose them–he chose her.”
The way Xeus‘ turned away from me marked my heart forever. Perhaps it was only me convincing myself that I was loved, that I was taken care of.
Someone cleared his throat. And there, by my hospital room’s door, Xeus and Xavier stood. Lucille was arching her brows.
“Father called for you, mother,” Xeus coldly said to Luna Shea.

just ignored Lucille even when she’s trying hard to seek attention from the Luna.
Xavier‘ s face darkened. “Are you feeding lies to the Luna of the Blood Ruby Pack again, Louise?”
Shut up, Xavier. It’s not the way you should talk to the female who’d been your sister for twenty years until that bitch arrived,” she jerked her chin at Lucille.
Lucille flinched. Xeus stepped in front of her as if to protect her from their own mother. And me. Bullshit.
Xavier rushed to the Luna‘ s side and said,
“Mother, don’t believe anything that Louise says. Lucille said she’s even the one who tried to poison our father and she just acted as if she’s the one who drunk it to save face-”
“Shut up!” The Luna slapped him. Lucille, who was hiding behind Xeus, smirked at Luna Shea.

My mother’s bestfriend glared at her.
Xeus calmly added, “Even though Lucille comes from a poor Beta family, she was independent and strong. She will not hastily agree to a marriage proposal just because she covets the family’s wealth. Louise, on the other hand, had been spoiled by us and she only knows how to bully others and stir up trouble out of jealousy.” He tossed his brother a look. “It’s my fault for what’s happening
now.
Luna Shea scoffed. “I don‘ t think so, son. This was all happening because your father, both of you, accepted that woman along with her mother. They both are mysterious. Who knows? They re both assassins sent to poison the Blood Ruby Pack from within!”
Lucille stepped back but Xeus grabbed her wrist.” Mother,” he warned.

After they left, I spent a long time soothing the Luna and helping her calm down until she finally let me go with tearful goodbyes and wish–wells.
“Don’t worry. I will always be right here to support you. You‘ re the daughter I never had.”
Then the Luna and I hugged before her Alpha called for her.
I grabbed my things and we parted ways. I left with her final warmth as a swirl of emotions clouded my eyes.
On my way down, as soon as the elevator opened on the ground floor, the trio
ambushed me. Xavier punched me and Lucille slapped me.
Even just being discharged from the hospital, they didn’t hesitate to hurt me.
Xeus only watched as Xavier and Lucille
beat me up.

I managed to look up after a few minutes of their physical abuse. Despite the pain on my body, I shrieked and cursed at Lucille.
“Why can you just leave me alone, Louise? You‘ re destroying my plans! Worse, you even came to complain and slander me to the Luna. Are you that bitter that you‘ re willing to destroy me?”
Xeus‘ blank expression just watched us.
“I know what you are, Lucille. You and your mother. One day, your plans will be revealed and all three of you will regret what you did to me!”
