Xeus‘ face froze slightly as he looked at me from head to toe, as if he just realized he had gone too far. He let go of Lucille and she fell to the floor with a thud. “Are you alright, Lou? I’m sorry, I—”
“I’m fine. I don’t blame you,” I retorted as I wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth. The hand Xeus slapped me with one big iron ring at that same time was the reason blood trickled down my nose.
I did not blame him or either of them because I took that slap as a repayment for
everything that his family had given me all these years.

And as if my thoughts conjured her, Luna Shea appeared. All three of them trembled. “What happened here? And
what happened to Louise?!”

I just shook my head and whispered to the Luna that my mother is waiting for me.
From this time forward, the Zane twins and I were even. There was no debt to settle between us anymore. No more.
However, Xavier brazenly blocked my way. “You‘ re not leaving before you apologize to Lucille!”
At the uttering of those words, Luna Shea instead grabbed Lucille‘ s hair and demanded, “What did you do this time that resulted in an Alpha’s daughter having blood in her face?!”
Xavier tried to stop her mother but my mother’s bestfriend only slapped him.
“You two always made beautiful women as your weakness. Just because this pretty bitch is manipulating you, doesn’t mean I’ll also allow her malice to spread in this pack!” She called for two Betas and
demanded Lucille be thrown in the

dungeons.
Xeus and Xavier protested vehemently but the twins have no power with their mother present. Xavier shot me a look that says,
‘you turned our own mother against us‘.
The wrath in his face was nothing like the brother who once followed me around, calling me sister in a gentle voice.
However, I knew what he was capable of. What both of them were capable of.
Once, there was a Rogue who tried to abduct me, knowing that I am an Alpha‘ s daughter and an Alpha‘ s niece. Xavier was the first to see me. He easily
overpowered the Rogue. Xeus took care of what remains of that Rogue. Both of them worked on him that, because of what happened, no single Rogue plagued the Blood Ruby Pack for years.
I could never imagine that one day, they would use that same cruelty against me- all for a conniving bitch like Lucille.

The smugness on Lucille’s face as she was carried away is enough to ignore my blood roaring in my head. I swallowed down all the words inside of me that could send Lucille to her downfall.
I shook my head as I turned to leave, leaving behind the things that were still in my room. My uncle’s Beta appeared in the doorway. Even Lucille gasped at his size that was bigger than the twins combined. My uncle’s Beta, Beta Richard, also worked for my father before he passed so he definitely knew who I was and what I
was.
I didn’t say anything as I strode past the three of them. I had nothing to fear. I have nothing to hide unlike Lucille. Even without them forcing me out, I was already ready to leave–even with a broken heart and a wounded soul.

“LOUISE!” I knew it was Xeus calling me from behind. I faced him, Luna Shea still scolding Xavier as I lifted my gaze to my room’s windows.
“I’ve overreacted earlier. I’m sorry for the slap.” Xeus was always the one closer to me, and seeing him, he somehow found himself being guilty for hitting me.
“Don’t take it to heart. Please. When I get back, I’ll bring you your favorite peanut butter ice cream. However, I have one condition: please promise not to make things difficult for Lucille anymore. Consider her as your sister. We begged our mother to talk to her properly and not send her to the dungeons.
“That‘ s touching, Xeus but…you definitely forgot everything now. You and Xavier.”
“About what?”
I inhaled a sharp breath. “I’m allergic to peanuts.” And I almost died months ago because Lucille handed it to me on her first

night in this mansion.
Xeus gasped and looked away, massaging his forehead.
A cold chill surged through me as a cold wind brushed my cheeks. Beta Richard cleared his throat from his seat, a signal for me to now get in. I held the door open.
As I was about to get inside the car, Xeus shouted. “Why do you hate Lucille so much?”
I immediately stopped. “Why do you hate me so much?!” I shrieked back. “I loved you and you alone, Xeus.”
But he turned away, to where Xavier is now wrapping his arm across Lucille‘ s
shoulders. Luna Shea looked at me from
the window and shook her head. Even she can’t contain her own sons.
I could not take it anymore as the last bit of strength left me and I collapsed directly into the mud.

Beta Richard got out of the driver’s seat
and rushed to help me.
After struggling to stand, I managed to
climb up to the car.
“Take me to the Dark Tide Pack‘ s hospital,” was my only command when we started to drive away, the Zanes‘ mansion getting smaller and smaller in the distance.
Perhaps Xeus never loved me. Maybe Xavier never treated me as her sister. All they see of me, of us (including Lucille), is just a meek helpless wolf they took in so that they can have someone to take care of.
And whey they grow bored and tired, they’ll find new ones they can groom.
And I bet it will only be a matter of time when Lucille‘ s time is up and the Zane twins will bring a new she–wolf for them to take care of.
Good thing I left as early as I could because there will also come a time that Lucille will
