Chapter 4
The gasp the twins gasped was enough for Tascille to sprint away from the room. The brothers lingered for a minute and stared down at me as it drinking the last details of my body and presence, and then they too
Me returning to my mother surprised them enough to shut their mouths. They know the moment l‘ Il leave, they’ll be no one for them to pick at, to bully at.
Tclosed the door and studied every little detail of the room that has been my solace
for twenty years.
This time, I really packed my things from my room. That confrontation earlier was enough to pack my memories and feelings.
But it didn’t take me a long time to finish. There was not much left to pack since Lucille made sure everything was already packed and tossed in the hallway.

I heard the arrival of the car and I looked outside the window. My uncle’s Beta has come to fetch me. Minutes later, I heard footsteps from outside my room and the sound of my things being hauled away from the hallway.
I inhaled and exhaled. My closet was empty save for a few hangers there. For twenty years, all my clothes were chosen by Xeus. Back then, he claimed I was the most beautiful and, of course, I should dress up pretty everyday.
Once, I think it was two weeks ago, those same pretty clothes Xeus chose for me were soaked in dirty water. They emitted a very foul smell, thanks to Lucille Clarke.
Obviously, the image that I was the princess in his heart had turned into this parasite with a vicious temper.
I opened the door slightly when I stepped on something. I looked down and there, photos scattered all over the floor. They were photos of me, my face in every one of

those group photos was crossed out with a red pen. My wolf whimpered inside me and I sent a quick prayer to the Moon Goddess above. I did not have the heart to look at those pictures anymore so I threw everything straight into the trash.
While I was doing this, a wind sent the door gaping wide and Xeus happened to walk past my room with Lucille. They both saw this unpleasant scene.
There was a trace of surprise flashed in his eyes, and a bit of sadness. After all, I used to treasure everything that he gave me. Xeus was always the male I dreamed of, the mate I dreamed to have.
But they both rejected me when Lucille came, and the pain was unbearable that I couldn’t sleep or eat or rest for weeks. Two mating bonds snapping at once…I could have gone crazy, Luna Shea once told me. But she was the reason I didn’t.
His shock and sorrow quickly dissipated. “You sure don’t mind destroying the

packs property and wasting our money,” he barked.
I looked up at Xeus and this was clearly no longer the male who spent extravagantly just to make me happy. Now that Lucille was by his side, everything I did was wrong. Everything I am is wrong.
I didn’t have the energy to argue so I just shrugged my shoulders. “I’ll pay you back.”
“Whatever. That amount of money is useless to us anyway. Just don’t trouble Lucille again!”
Lucille pulled Xeus‘ sleeve gently with a pout on her face. “Xeus, don’t waste your time with unimportant people like her. She’s nothing but a black moon now. Come on.”
Hearing this, I stopped, her words made my breath catched.
Back then, Luna Shea was busy with her responsibility so she had given Xeus, her

So he designed a treehouse on top of the tallest tree in the pack where we can watch the endless sprawl of stars every time there was a clear night sky.
One night, as he looked at me under the stars, his eyes were filled with warmth and affection. “Louise, remember that this sky is just for you, just like my love is only for you… Those twenty years under the starry sky together, turning it into a dreamlike haven, is enough for me to consider that I would marry Xeus and we’ll have a lavish mating ceremony. Since then, my heart has always leaned toward Xeus Zane, the eldest son of Luna Shea and possible heir to the Alpha of the Blood Ruby Pack.
But looking at those raging eyes that were once filled with love for me…I shook my head.

The Zane twins have this new rose to admire and now have chosen to forget me, the dimming moon. The Black moon.
“It’s alright,” my wolf assured me. Of course, it was fine–because it did not matter to me anymore.
Their rejection created a new version of me, one that no longer believes in love and kindness. One that no longer sees those twenty years of memories to cherish but rather a series of life–long lessons.
I took a deep breath and turned to leave. In the end, I did not want either of them anymore.
Suddenly, Lucille grabbed my wrist. Her grip was so tight that it almost crushed my bones. “Why are you always looking down on me?!”
Feeling the unbearable pain shooting through my hand, I flung her hand off as hard as I could instinctively. Lucille fell on the floor swiftly and smoothly. “HELP!”

Xeus, though he barely caught her, panicked and held her close.
Before I could react, his hand flew across my face, sending me crashing to my bed.
Xavier stormed in and shouted my name. “Why are you always picking on Lucille, Louise? If it weren’t for us, you would be a homeless orphan and probably be feasted by the Rogues by now. You didn’t even show us gratitude but you hurt us with your cruelty!”
“You truly are your father’s daughter,” Xeus added, his murmurs more painful than Xaiver‘ s.
And the mention of my father made my hand slapped both of their faces.
“DON‘ T. EVER. TALK ABOUT MY FATHER!”
This was the first time in my life that I had been hit–and I also hit back. That instant, my entire world that revolved around them crumbled into pieces.
