Compared to the selfish and disloyal Zane brothers, Xaden was truly a loyal
gentleman. He was a calm and steady Alpha. no wonder why so many packs want an alliance with him. It was also no wonder my mother kept urging me to agree to this marriage.
I reached up to kiss his elegant cheek once.
He giggled, “Is that all?
I then rose on my toes and kissed him softly on the lips.
The kiss was gentle and kind, but I can feel the love brimming with our entangled
mouths.
I realized then that true love doesn’t require twenty years of waiting. When the right person came along, marriage and children all fell into place naturally as if Fate’s plans were all but a puzzle slowly clicking into place. No need for endless waiting.

His hand from the back of my hips rose slowly until he managed to unhook my bra with one hand.
I smiled. “Right now, I can’t wait for us to have a child.”
It was his signal to me, and then we both landed on the carpet with him on top of

Our wolves howled together, in joy and in
excitement.
I didn’t say it back. He froze.

A day before the wedding ceremony, Luna Shea showed up. And she came bearing
news.
“I knew my hunch about Lucille and her mother. They’re Rogues!”
I dropped my spoon as soon as she blurted. We were having breakfast when my mother’s bestfriend rushed to me. My mother calmed her down and urged her to talk slowly.
“Well, Lucille is the secret daughter of a Beta and a Rogue. She was also the one who tried to poison my husband on your birthday party!” Luna Shea‘ s voice trembled. “But of course it was you who drank it instead that’s why she blamed it on you.”
I swallowed. “How–how did you find out about this?”

“And?” It was my uncle who spoke.
“The Beta tried to stab him in the back but he caught her before she could even grab
the knife. They fought and Lucille‘ s mother was injured–fatally.”
I gasped. I shook my head. I can hardly breathe.
“What about…the twins?”
As if my words summoned them, Luna Shea’s sons knocked down the guards and rushed to me.
“Louise, please forgive us!” It was Xavier who spoke first.
I did not know how the twins found out where we were dining. Xaden stood but Luna Shea urged him to just sit and let me handle it.
“Louise, I was wrong–we were wrong!” Xeus closed the distance between us even

when he’s kneeling on the floor. “Please, forgive us. We shouldn’t have been so foolish to just let Lucille compete with you. I shouldn’t have ruined your life because of us!”
Their tearful confession is indeed moving. However, my fury was unmatched.
“Please,” he begged me while holding my leg. “Forgive us. Come back to us!‘
Xavier was still kneeling too when he reached for my hand. “Please, Lou.”
Luna Shea ordered her sons to come to their senses. “Xavier! Xeus!”
But when they didn’t listen to their own mother, the Luna commanded Alpha Xaden to call his guards to drag them away.
We followed Luna Shea and her dragged- away sons to their car.
Xaden, who was silent the entire time, looked at Xeus as if he was looking at a piece of trash.

I spoke, “I forgive you and Xavier. But I will never forget.”
As soon as I finished, my mate took my hand and whispered calmly, “Let’s go home, love.”
Anything related to the Zane brothers has become unworthy of my attention so when I took a few steps, I suddenly felt dizzy.
“Louise? Are you alright?”
“No-”
The world went dark and I collapsed into Xaden’s arm even before I could answer.
