“Where’s mom? She hasn’t replied to my messages.”
“Mom’s resting at home. After such a serious car accident, she needs to recover.”
“I… didn’t know, I–I thought you were lying.”
My brother’s lips trembled, realizing how absurd he’d been.
At first, he didn’t believe Cora because he had experienced the same thing in his past life.
After Bella’s “suicide,” he was in great pain.
To relieve this pain, he kept brainwashing himself, blaming everything on me.
Most importantly, he heard Cora say, “If Alice had called the ambulance sooner, mom wouldn’t be in trouble, and Bella wouldn’t need a blood
transfusion.”
So he believed I was the cause of everything.
In this life, Cora showed him the car accident footage…
He realized how severe the accident was.
Then he checked mom’s medical records at the hospital, discovering mom was really in grave danger back then.
Only now did he understand how wrong he’d been.
But he instinctively wanted to blame me.
“You didn’t explain clearly, or I would’ve taken Bella to save mom.”
“Oh? What if Bella decided to jump into the sea?”
I raised my gaze, meeting his eyes.
He froze.
“…”
“You would’ve killed me!”
His face showed a trace of panic, wanting to defend himself, but he couldn’t find the words.
“Danielle, you’re absurd.”
Danielle’s eyes darted around, stammering, “I… I just wanted you and Bella to get along, but you always bullied her, I thought…
I glared at him, throwing the collected evidence at him again.
Not only were there proofs of Bella isolating me at school, but also her framing me at home, with two–faced surveillance videos…
“You said I bullied her? Take a good look at how hypocritical and greedy she is.”
My brother picked up the evidence, his expression surprisingly calm.
I was puzzled, but then saw his calmness replaced by anger.
But it was unclear if this anger was directed at Bella’s deceit or his own shame at being fooled.
“How did this happen?”
“Why couldn’t it happen? You’ve been blinded by her facade, your judgment clouded by so–called love.”

Danielle swayed slightly, struggling to stand.
“I really didn’t know, I thought… I just wanted to protect her. She said you bullied her at school…”
“She said, she said? What a ‘she said!”
He wasn’t incapable of thinking; he just preferred Bella.
He chose to believe her clumsy lies.
He lowered his head, holding it in his hands, at a loss.
“How could this happen? I didn’t know, Bella tricked me, I was bewitched by her!”
I said nothing, just stared at him.
Danielle suddenly looked up, determination in his eyes: “Fine, I’ll cut ties with her. She’ll pay for her actions.”
Watching him leave, my heart was a mix of feelings.
In the following days, I heard Danielle started distancing himself from Bella.
I even saw my brother publicly post on social media.
He declared he would no longer acknowledge Bella as his sister!
Naturally, Bella wouldn’t give up easily.
She cried, threatened, and even tried to drive a wedge between mom and me again.
But this time, my brother didn’t soften.
A month later, while mom and I were eating, my brother barged in.
Watching him leave, I felt a mix of emotions.
In the days that followed, I learned that Danielle started distancing herself from Bella. I also noticed my brother posting on social media, declaring that he would no longer acknowledge Bella as his sister. Bella, naturally, wasn’t willing to let it go. She cried, threatened, and even tried to stir up trouble between my mom and me again. But this time, my brother stood firm.
A month later, while my mom and I were having dinner, my brother barged in. His face was unshaven, his suit was sloppily unbuttoned, and he looked quite disheveled. “Mom, won’t you forgive me yet?”
“Oh, you want me to forgive you?”
His eyes brightened, and he nodded eagerly. However, my mom continued peeling shrimp for me, unfazed, “No. If I forgive you, I’d be betraying my daughter.”
His expression immediately darkened. “Mom, I know I made a huge mistake. Every day I’ve been regretting being deceived by Bella and hurting you both.” His voice was raspy, and his eyes slightly reddened.
I paused, looked up at him, and said, “You’re only doing this because you were kicked out of the company and you’re broke now.”
“You regret it because you’re out of money, not because you hurt me.” I didn’t believe he regretted his actions because of the pain he caused me. He regretted it because his personal interests were harmed. He realized my mom was serious this time.
My brother looked at me, agitated. “Alice, stop trying to drive a wedge.”
I raised an eyebrow. It seemed the facade couldn’t last long. His true nature was showing. My mom said nothing, just pulled out a document. It was a notarized will, stating that all of Eliza’s assets would be inherited by her daughter, Alice.
My brother saw the will, and his whole body trembled. “Mom, are you serious? Are you really going to give up on me over something so trivial?”
“Get out!” My mom’s voice was sharp, and she instructed the bodyguards to throw my brother out. Danielle couldn’t resist and was carried out
