Epilogue 1
I grew up as a rich girl in a poor town, and from a young age, I experienced all kinds of hardship. The people in the town all pitched in to make sure I could attend school from elementary to high school, and I worked hard to keep up my studies.
Then, a few officers from the city came to find me. After a DNA test, they revealed that I was actually the daughter of a wealthy family. I was ecstatic. This meant I no longer had to struggle, juggling work and study. I could finally help the villagers who had supported me all these years with a large sum of money.
Soon, I was taken to the city, and when I saw Sophia for the first time in the big mansion, a flood of strange thoughts filled my mind. It turned out that the world we lived in was actually a book, and Sophia was the story’s main villain.
She pretended to be pitiful to bully me at home, and at school, she used all kinds of tactics to isolate and exclude me. Everything happened just like the plot said it would. It was so real, so unavoidable, that I couldn’t help but believe it was meant to be.
Every day, I was filled with anxiety and fear. But then, the outcomes of things started to defy my expectations. The things I feared most were somehow always turned around by Sophia, making me question the reality of the world we lived in.
One day, she asked me why I always saw her as the bad guy. And honestly, I was confused too. If Sophia wasn’t the villain, I probably wouldn’t
have disliked her so much.
But the plot still moved in the same direction. Every time, she would make a move, only to somehow rationalize it afterward. It didn’t make sense, but still, nothing changed.
However, the big disaster I had feared didn’t happen. In the end, everyone was safe. I didn’t become the family’s favorite child… but why did I
even want to be?
Growing up in the town, the people there had already showered me with love. I had experienced true affection long before. And I could tell that my family genuinely wanted to make up for the past.
After Sophia did that one thing, for the sake of my safety and James‘, my parents gave her a sum of money and sent her away, never to mention her again.
Eventually, it was James and I who would occasionally call Sophia. We heard that she had married Samuel abroad and had a baby. They planned to settle down there.
My parents no longer held a grudge about the past and would sometimes take James and me on trips to visit her. Yet, every time, Sophia would make excuses to avoid seeing us, saying she was afraid it would trigger the plot.
