Chapter 10
I was held in detention for a week, and when I was released from the police station, my parents, including Lily, came to pick me up. My parents seemed a little distant, but James, my brother, was as usual, helping me with my things. Once we were in the car, my parents spoke to me.
“James is going to take over the company from now on, so you don’t have to worry about his safety anymore. Now that you’re an adult, you can live on your own. We’ve already bought you a place, so if you have any thoughts or concerns, you can bring them up.”
It was clear. They were pushing me out.
Happy Ending
I had already expected this outcome, but the tears still fell uncontrollably. After all, they had taken care of me with genuine love and care since I was little.
Lily, seeing me cry, couldn’t help but think to herself,
“She definitely doesn’t want to leave. After all, who would want to leave being a rich girl? Even though she posted that video in the family group chat, the fact is, she still sabotaged James‘ car and tried to murder him. No one can change that.”
Hearing Lily’s thoughts, no one knew what to say.
I simply spoke, my voice calm.
“Thank you for raising me. I’m sorry about James‘ race, but there are many things in this world that I couldn’t control, especially in front of you all.”
These were my sincere feelings.
To protect these kind–hearted people and to fulfill a small wish of my own, I said, “If possible, I’d like to go abroad to study, live somewhere else, and not come back. But you can come visit me anytime. Would that be okay?”
My parents and James were silent for a moment, and eventually, they agreed.
