Chapter 231
(Eden’s Pov)
I could feel the ray of sunlight on my face as I slowly came into consciousness.
My eyes opened slightly, and I closed them again with a slight groan as I placed my right hand against my face in an attempt to block the sunlight from my eyes.
I opened it again and slowly sat up.
It felt like there were pins attached to my body. I ached all over, but I tried hard to hold in a groan.
I looked around.
Where was I? Nothing looked familiar.
My eyes finally settled on someone.
It was Ryker.
He just watched me, with a lazy smile on his face.
His eyes fell on my body, and he chuckled. With a frown, I tried to find what he found funny, and that was when I noticed that I was not in the same clothes I wore last night.
Someone had changed my clothes to a thick nightgown that was almost see–through.
I quickly crossed my arms over my body in mortification, and Ryker laughed.
My eyes widened in terror as I felt repulsed.
“Did you… did you change my clothes?” I asked. I hoped he would tell me no.
Ryker raised a brow in surprise..
“Don’t you remember?” He asked.
Fear gripped me. “Remember what?” The last thing I wanted was Ryker seeing me naked.
“Last night. It was great!” He smiled.
At first, I frowned. Confused. But when he gave a suggestive look at my body, 1 gasped and quickly grabbed the bed covers to hide my body.
For a moment, I stared at him in shock.
Ryker shrugged and grinned.
“What do you mean?” I finally whispered.
Ryker swiped a hand over his hair with a deep sigh.
“How could you have forgotten what we did so quickly? After we had such an amazing night!”
Unable to bear the emotions I held any longer, I sprang up and grabbed the bed covers along with me. I backed away until my back touched the wall, and I looked at Ryker in shock.
Ryker tried hard to hold in a laugh, but it didn’t take long. He suddenly bent over and started laughing hard. When he straightened up, he used a finger to clean the tears from beneath his eyes,

I wasn’t sure what he found funny, but I didn’t let my guard down.
Did I sleep with Ryker? I must have been insane.
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that I would ever sleep with Ryker.
“Come on, don’t be so uptight; that was just a joke. Nothing happened between us.” Ryker said.
I narrowed my gaze at him in disbelief.
“What?” Ryker asked.
“Are you sure?” I asked my hold on the bed sheet tightened.
Ryker rolled his eyes again. “I might be a horrible person to your mate, but one thing I’m not is a man that takes advantage of women, especially when they are most vulnerable.”
“That’s very strange coming from you.” I said.
Ryker shrugged. “I’m not going to force you to believe.”
I looked down. “What about the clothes? Who changed me?”
Ryker waved a hand in the air. “The maids. They changed you out of your wet clothes and gave you a dry one themselves. I wasn’t even in the room when you were attended to.”
Scenes from last night flashed through my head, and I shuddered.
I could still recall how I ran after Eros in desperation after he stormed out in anger. I remembered our fight and what led to it.
I remembered Susie.
That lecherous snake who never failed to destroy whatever I had tried hard to build.
I felt my eyes sting and became watery.
I had no idea at first that Ryker was watching me, not until he stepped closer. Before I could stop him, he pulled me into his arms and patted my back.
“It’s alright.” He said sofily.
I stiffened. It felt very strange being in Ryker’s arms.
Slowly, I relaxed and allowed my emotions to flow. The tears flowed, and Ryker just comforted me in silence.
When the tears began to dry up, I sniffed continuously. Ryker pulled away and pointed to the side of the room.
“You must be hungry. There’s breakfast.” He said.
Everything Ryker did continued to shock me.
“Breakfast?” I raised a brow.
Ryker smiled. “Quite thoughtful of me, isn’t it?” He grinned.
I rolled my eyes. I knew he was going to ruin it by complimenting himself.
I looked at the food tray and hesitated. At that moment, my stomach grumbled in protest, but I didn’t make a move. I just couldn’t trust Ryker completely. He was acting too kind, which was very unusual of him.
I finally shook my head in denial. “I’m fine, thank you. I will get something to cat later.”

Who knows if the food is poisoned? Besides, I wasn’t even sure if this was Ryker’s room or a place he plans to discard my body after he killed me.
Maybe I was going too far, but still.
“You don’t trust me.” Ryker said softly. He scoffed. “No matter how much I care for you, you push me away. Yet, you foolishly run after Eros in the rain like a maniac”
Ryker’s voice got higher as he continued until he was yelling at me. “Do you have any idea how much damage you could have done to yourself and the baby by staying out in the rain until you lost consciousness? Why don’t you think of Eden!”
I frowned. Rather than get angry, I was amused
“Are you sick?” I asked Ryker.
“What?” He looked confused.
Was he bipolar? One minute he was an enemy, and the next he cared about my health and my pup.
“You are acting strange.” I said.
Ryker pursed his lips and completely closed the space between us. His face was so close to me I had to back up a bit so we
didn’t touch.
He placed one hand on the wall and caged me in.
“I want you, Eden.” Ryker said softly. His eyes looked a little hooded.
I averted my gaze quickly, surprised by the thrill of excitement that ran through me.
“Ryker.” I started in protest, but he placed a hand on my lips, and I trailed off.

My toes curled slightly. Feeling mortified that I was reacting to Ryker’s flirtation, I ducked and tried to escape.
Ryker grabbed me quickly and held me against him.
“Leave Eros and come to me. I will be king, not Eros, and I want you as my queen.” He leaned in to force a kiss on me.

I hurried out of the room as quickly as I could and stumbled into someone.
When I looked up, I saw Eros staring down at me with so much pain in his eyes… Behind him, Susie looked at us with a knowing smirk.
