(Eden’s Pov)
“What exactly do you want us to talk about?” Lord Shevek frowned.
“My mother.” I quipped.
He looked away quickly. “Look, I don’t want to talk about it.”
“You will” I narrowed my gaze on him.
I knew he wasn’t going to listen to me easily, but I was more determined.
“Leave Eden.” He growled.
I paused and straightened up with a bitter chuckle. Lord Shevek rolled his eyes.
“You heard me.” He said.
“You are trying to avoid me.” I said.
He sighed and leaned against his chair.
“All I need are answers. I need to know why my mother suddenly became unhappy and chose to leave!”
“Eden…” Lord Shevek called out softly. “This is not the time for this.”
I could sense the frustration in his voice, I sensed Eros’s presence behind the door, his scent comforted me.
“Fine,” I said.
Lord Shevek looked relieved.
“But… “I began again, and he threw his head back. I just continued. “If you truly loved my mother, you shouldn’t have let her go so easily.”
“She wanted to leave. I couldn’t stop her. What exactly did you think I should have done? You know Rose. Once she makes up her mind, there is no talking her out of it.”
“Not with you. I’ve seen the way she listens to you. She loves you.” I said softly. “That isn’t something you should easily give up

“It doesn’t seem like it. Lord Shevek mumbled.
I paused.
I understood him. My father had been betrayed before, and from experience, I knew it was hard to trust another after the pain
of heartbreak.
I thought about where my mother said she was going to.
Alpha Griffin.
I knew there was no love left in her heart for him, but I feared Alpha Griffin might manipulate her just like he manipulated Olivia
“My mother went to get Olivia.” I started.
Lord Shevek didn’t move a muscle. From the way he stayed in one position, I assumed he must have known.

“You knew.” I said
He nodded. “But it doesn’t matter.”
“It matters!” I said quickly. “Alpha Griffin is nothing but a monster. I want you to get her back.”
Lord Shevek looked at me. His fingers drummed against the table as if he was lost in thoughts. When he didn’t say anything. I

“Please Don’t give up on your love.” I said.
After a moment, I stepped out. Eros stood outside. He moved away from the wall and closed the space between us.
“Are you fine?” He asked.
I forced a smile “Im fine.”
You don’t look fine.” He said.
I felt the tears prick my eyes. My chest tightened. I felt a great urge to cry, but I tried to hold it in as much as I could, but Eros sensed the pain in me and immediately wrapped his arms around me.
I broke down.
The tears flowed, and I buried my head deep into his neck.
“I don’t know what’s happening.” I said
“It will be fine. Eros comforted.
I shook my head. “I thought my parents would eventually come to love each other and have a shot at what they missed.”
“It’s not over.” Eros whispered. “Give them the time.”
“But there is no time I gasped. “What if Alpha Griffin does something to my mother and takes her away just like Olivia?” Eros pulled me away from him and cradled my face in his hands. “Nothing like that will ever happen, not while I am here.” He looked at the closed door to Lord Shevek’s office, and not while Lord Shevek is here.”
“I don’t know.” I whispered.
“Come with me.” He said softly, his gaze locked on mine.
“To where I sniffed.
He smiled and brushed a hand beneath my eyes, wiping the tears underneath. “To eat. You need the strength.”
I laughed softly.
Eros led me by the hand, and I followed him. At one point he stopped and swept me into his arms, and I allowed myself to rest against him..
In a few seconds, he dropped me on the bed, and I sat up. Eros brought the tray he held earlier and dropped it in front of me. Once again, the sweet aroma filled my nostrils, and I sighed. I had lost my appetite.
“What if they never come back together?” I asked.
Fros sat beside me and tore the toast open.
“Why do you keep saying so?” Eros asked.

He moved the piece of toast to my mouth. I didn’t have a choice but to open up. I ate it. It tasted good.
“I thought he would fight for her. I thought he was ready to do anything to get her back. Lord Shevek didn’t respond when 1 told him my mother had gone to Alpha Griffin.”
Eros shrugged. “Maybe he is scared.”
I frowned. “What do you mean?”
“Maybe he thinks your mother is still in love with Alpha Griffin.” He said.
I sighed. I had imagined that too. But I knew my mother wouldn’t have given her heart to Lord Shevek if she was still in love with Alpha Griffin, besides, all she had for the Alpha was nothing but burning hatred.
“I never knew what it was to have a complete family.” I felt tears well up again.
Eros stopped feeding me as I continued.
“I had already begun to imagine that I would finally have a father and a mother.. with a junior sister. I laughed softly. “It’s all I have ever dreamed of, a complete family.”
The tears slipped out of my eyes again,
“I hate this.” I cried out and threw myself into Eros’s arms, careful enough not to mess up the food between us.
“It may not be fair, but you are definitely not alone, Eden. You have me, forever. And very soon.” He touched my stomach. “We will have a baby of our own. You are strong, my love?
