Chapter 19
“You can ask her and see if I’m falsely accusing her!” Gary snapped.
He was clearly agitated.
It was unusual to see him so upset. He had always been the picture of a loving father, and he had never raised his voice at Lucille. This showed just how outrageous Lucille’s words must have been tonight.
Flint turned slightly and cast a glance at Lucille.
She remained composed and calm as ever. Even though Flint had heard her harsh words, there wasn’t a trace of anxiety or nervousness in her demeanor.
His opinion of her no longer seemed to bother her.
A thought instinctively crossed his mind, when someone no longer cares about you, your thoughts and opinions no longer matter to them.
Was this where Lucille was now?
This realization brought a faint displeasure to Flint’s heart, and his brows furrowed slightly.
Meanwhile, when Oriel and Dahlia noticed Flint’s frown, they were secretly delighted. They thought Flint was dissatisfied because he had learned of Lucille’s sharp words.
Lucille took a sip of coffee. Flint asked, “Did you really say that?”
“I did.”
Lucille didn’t bother to deny it, and her expression remained indifferent, unconcerned about how her admission might further damage Flint’s impression of her.
Flint’s frown deepened when he realized this.
Oriel and Dahlia expected Lucille to deny everything. They were momentarily stunned by her straightforward admission. Then they were inwardly thrilled.
Especially Oriel.
Since she was young, she has always envied Lucille.
Because she was unable to be recognized as the legitimate daughter of the Cobbs, she was forever seen as the burden her mother brought along with her when she married into a wealthy family.
She couldn’t match Lucille’s background or looks. And to make matters worse, Lucille had married Flint. When she married into the Ashworths, Lucille became the true elite of Cholis.
How could Oriel not be jealous of her?
Her gaze fell on Flint.
Handsome, tall, and commanding, he was the epitome of male beauty. Even in the entertainment world, which filled with good- looking men, Flint would still stand out as the cream of the crop.
And behind him was a fortune worth billions, coupled with connections most people could only dream of.
Oriel stared at Flint, her heart burning with desire. How wonderful it would be if this man were hers.
If Lucille were dead, then perhaps she could take over her place and marry Flint.
Oriel’s gaze grew more intense as she looked at Flint.
Just then, Flint glanced up at Oriel, causing her heart to thump in fear. She almost forgot to mask her earlier expression.
She quickly changed her expression and adopted a look of shyness mixed with a hint of grievance. Oriel softly called out to him, “Flint.”
Her voice was soft and delicate, as if a mere breath would cause her to fall apart.
Flint ignored her. Instead, he directed his gaze toward the still–furious Gary.
With a slight smile, he said, “Gary, I didn’t expect you to have such strict discipline at home.”
Gary didn’t immediately grasp the meaning behind Flint’s words.

Flint continued, “Lucy was just telling the truth, but it made you so angry.
Cough Cough
Lucille had just taken a sip of coffee. She nearly choked as Flint’s words sent the liquid down the wrong pipe.
