Chapter 7
Olivia’s POV
As Alpha Zander’s voice just fell, I heard the guests gasp in surprise.
Marsh’s face darkened. Clearly, he wasn’t expecting Alpha Zander to back me up in public.
Emily froze, the smirk dying on her lips.
“Well, Alpha Zander-” Marsh stammered, trying to explain, but Alpha Zander just waved his hand, signaling him not to continue.
“I’ve made myself pretty clear,” said Alpha Zander, his voice dripping with authority.
Emily squeezed out her reluctant apology through gritted teeth, “Since that’s the case, I’ll apologize for what I’ve done.”
With that, she walked toward me with her wine glass in hand.
Noticing the flicker of annoyance in her eyes, I took a step back, but it was too late.
She had pretended to trip over her dress and spilled the wine all over my white gown.
The crisp sound of the glass shattering on the floor made the crowd kick up a low buzz of surprise.
The deep red stains on the white fabric stood out, like a pristine canvas marred by a sudden, violent stroke of red.
Chapter 7
I calmly raised my head and locked eyes with Emily.
She was wearing a sneaky grin, her eyes sparkling with some twisted sense of victory, like she was loving this moment.
“Oops, Luna Olivia. My hand slipped,” she said, feigning innocence.
After a while, Alpha Zander spoke up, breaking the awkward silence, “Luna Olivia, looks like you need to clean up and get changed. There is a lounge upstairs. Let me take you there.”
The whispers around us stopped as soon as he finished his words.
I followed Alpha Zander through the crowd up the stairs, all eyes glued
on us.
Some seemed curious while others seemed jealous.
Soon, Alpha Zander led me to a lounge on the second floor.
It was more like a presidential suite rather than a lounge, even equipped with a changing room and bathroom.
The décor was classy and chic, each detail showing off the owner’s good
taste.
Through the large windows, I could see the starry sky, like a painting hanging in the heavens.
The flowers in the vase filled the air with a faint fragrance, easing my tension.
“Hold on a sec,” Alpha Zander said before leaving. Soon, an Omega maid came in with a white gown.
She bowed to me and then led me into the changing room.
Chapter 2
To my surprise, this evening gown fit like a glove.
Not long after the maid helped me get dressed and left the lounge, Alpha Zander came back.
“Thank you, Alpha Zander. Actually, I’ve got something to talk to you about,” I spoke up.
It was a rare opportunity to be alone with him, so I gotta seize it and tell him my plan.
Alpha Zander gently closed the door and turned to face me, his gaze lit with something intriguing.
“Please take a seat, Luna Olivia.” He pointed to the desk in front of the wine cabinet.
As he turned to the wine cabinet to take out a bottle of whiskey, I sat on the chair in front of the desk. After pouring a glass of whiskey for himself, he sat right across from me.
I went straight to the point, my voice trembling just a bit. “Alpha Zander, in fact, you’re why I’m here today. Can you do me a favor?”
He nodded gently, took a sip of whiskey, and locked his deep eyes onto mine. “How can I help?”
I took a deep breath and went on, “As you just saw, my mate’s been cheating on me and flaunting his lover around. So, I wanna reject him. But I want my company back at the same time. Can you help me with my case at the Council of Elders?”
My voice got steadier as I laid out my situation and request in detail.
After blurting out this long–prepared speech, I nervously gazed at Alpha
Zander.
He put down his glass and locked eyes with me, his gaze sharpening like he was peering right into my soul.
“I can help you, but help doesn’t come free. What can you give me in
return?”
My heart skipped a beat.
“Like I said, my previous company has merged with Marsh’s. Once I reclaim it. I’ll collaborate with you. Trust me, I’m top–notch in managing businesses and packs,” I blurted out.
“I believe you,” he replied with a smile.
“So it’s a deal?” I asked tentatively.
Alpha Zander leaned closer, whispering. “But your offer isn’t enough. I want you, too.”
Dumbfounded, I jerked my head back like I couldn’t believe my ears. “What do you mean?”
I tried to call my wolf, but she made no response.
It was probably because she hadn’t recovered from the damaged mate bond between Marsh and me. Or, it could be because Alpha Zander meant no harm to me.
Instead of making a further move, he simply said, “You’ve probably heard rumors about me. I haven’t found my mate yet, and it’s weakening my control over my pack.”
I fell silent. Hannah did fill me in on his situation.
He continued, “I can help you ditch your unfaithful mate and set you free.
But in exchange, you need to serve as my Luna for a year.”
Chapter 7
He picked up a file from the table and handed it to me.
“This is LA’s project brief. If you’re interested in it; consider my condition. of our cooperation and let me know your answer tomorrow.”
“T–tomorrow?” I stammered, trying to hide my shock.
“Yep.” He nodded, his voice firm and steady. “Because I’m leaving in two- days.”
