Olivia’s POV
It had been a long time since I raced horses with anyone. Back in the day when I was a child, I would run and race with the folks in the Red Moon Pack.
The wind blowing on my face right now reminded me of the good old days.
I couldn’t help feeling relaxed.
Speaking of which, Zander’s equestrian skills were better than I had. imagined.
He was right on my tail, sometimes just half a meter behind, sometimes leading ahead.
I had always been competitive, so upon noticing that he was very close, I cracked that whip hard and pushed my horse to go faster.
When there were 200 meters left to the finish line, I noticed that Zander was lagging behind me by nearly two meters.
Feeling smug, I gave a laugh. Yet just then, the red horse suddenly galloped past me.
When I realized what had happened and spurred on the horse, it was too.
late.
By the time I got to the finish line, Zander had already pulled up his horse.

He turned around and looked at me with a triumphant gaze, saying, “Olivia, you lost.”
Elara chimed in my mind, “He’s tougher than you thought.”
unstead of responding to my wolf, I was lost in thought, realizing that I’d underestimated Zander this time.
But I wasn’t a sore loser. So I replied with a smile, “A bet’s a bet.”
Just then, Hannah, who had finally caught up, rode over on her horse and said, “Olivia, why are you riding so fast?”
I swept past Zander and smiled, “It’s fun.”
Zander glanced at me with a half–smile. “Ms. Johnson, see you next time.”
“See you,” I casually replied.
He then clamped the horse’s legs, galloping away.
Hannah clicked her tongue, commenting, “There’s definitely something going on between you two!”
“What? Can’t hear you over the wind!” I raised an eyebrow at her.
“Stop changing the subject. What exactly is going on between you and Zander?”
She rode closer while I stared at where Zander had vanished off to and
calmly said, “It’s nothing. We just raced and I lost.”
“No way! This is the first time I’ve heard you got defeated!” Hannah exclaimed.
It was also my first time losing, but fair play.

“There’s always someone better out there.” I shrugged.
With that, I turned my horse around and added, “It’s about time for
lunch.”
After filling my stomach, Hannah urged me to go shopping.
I didn’t feel like doing it, but seeing how excited she was about it made it impossible for me to say no.
When I strolled through the mall with all the dazzling goods around, my thoughts kept wandering back to the horse race this morning.
Zander really impressed me. His equestrian skills were superb, and he was able to keep a perfect balance between speed and smoothness.
I started to wonder what kind of person he was.
We walked into a boutique, and Hannah wanted to shop quietly, so she had the shop assistant close off the entrance.
Shortly after, a snarky female voice came from the door. “Who’s inside? Someone’s got quite the VIP treatment, huh?”
Recognizing the familiar voice, I tore my gaze away from my phone and glanced over.
Sure enough, standing outside were Vivian Smith and Mara Ramos, Emily’s besties.
Back when I was in the Dawn Pack, these two loved throwing shade at

Spotting me, they widened their eyes. From the expressions on their faces, I knew they weren’t planning on leaving anytime soon.

The bags they were carrying were last month’s Paris fashion show models, which was a symbol of their status.
Decked out in designer clothes, they were exuding an air of luxury from head to toe.
I, on the other hand, dressed super casual today as I went on horseback riding this morning.
I was wearing black jeans paired with a light blue turtleneck sweater, and on my feet was a pair of mid–calf boots.
It looked nice, but aside from the designer bag I was carrying, the rest of my outfit was just too plain and unremarkable.
As soon as Vivian and Mara walked in, they headed straight for me. Vivian sized me up from head to toe before letting out a sarcastic click of her tongue. “Oh look who it is–Luna Olivia! Oh, wait, I forgot, Alpha Marsh is with Emily now. I should be calling you Ms. Johnson instead.”
Mara chimed in, “Any piece of clothing here costs thousands. For a whole set, it’s gotta be like twenty or thirty grand. Ms. Johnson, can you afford the clothes here?”
Hannah, who was standing behind me, immediately walked up and spat, “If you can’t speak politely, just keep your mouth shut! It’s just a few dozen grand. You really think we can’t afford that?”
Vivian and Mara giggled, “Calm down. We’re just expressing our concern for Ms. Johnson. After all, after she left the Dawn Pack, she’s basically a nobody now.”
I couldn’t help scoffing. “Seriously? You really think the Dawn Pack is so badass?”

Vivian sneered, “Ms. Johnson, how dare you look down upon the Dawn Pack! Alpha Marsh’s company is highly prestigious in Los Angeles. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been so eager to be his mate back then.”
I chuckled, “I did it because I was blinded by love. Now, I’m trying to make things right.”
“Stop bragging! You pathetic loser!” Vivian snapped while turning towards the shop assistant beside her. “Whatever she likes, wrap it up for me. I want them all!”
Before Hannah could jump in, I stopped her and then turned to the shop assistant, saying, “Please wrap up everything we just tried on for me.”
Upon hearing my words, Vivian, who was determined to annoy me, shot daggers at the shop assistant and snarled, “Didn’t you hear what I said?”
The shop assistant hesitated for a bit before asking, “Madam, are you sure you want all of them?”
