Chapter 27
Olivia’s POV
“Good evening, ladies.” The car window rolled down, and I saw Zander smiling at us as he spoke.
Hannah gave me a meaningful look and said, “Well, looks like you won’t have to drive by yourself later.”
I knew what she was inferring, so I shot her a sideways glance and replied, “I’m not ready to accept his help just yet.”
“I can’t handle any more accidents late at night, so sorry, but I think it’ll be the best if you accept his help.”
I snorted, “It’s not up to you.”
As we spoke, Zander had already gotten out of the car and walked up to us, asking, “Did your car break down?”
‘He’s quite forward,‘ I thought to myself.
Then I politely replied, “Yeah.”
“Did you call for a tow truck?”
“Um–hum.”
Just as I finished speaking, the tow truck crew showed up.
Wendy walked over and said, “Ms. Johnson, you may as well leave with Miss Watson now.”
I glanced at Zander standing beside me, feeling reluctant to get too

involved with him. So I nodded. “Okay.”
I signaled Hannah to follow before striding toward Wendy’s car.
Zander took a couple of slow steps beside me, saying, “If you take this car away, how’s your secretary gonna go back home? It’s quite late, and it might not be safe for her to take a taxi alone, don’t you think?”
I had to admit that he had a point.
My hand hesitated on the door handle as Hannah clicked her tongue. “Then what? Alpha Zander, are you gonna give us a ride?”
“If Ms. Johnson was so kind as to allow it, I’d be more than happy to,” he grinned.
I glanced at Wendy and realized how late it had gotten. After the tow truck left, she would be left here alone, which indeed seemed quite dangerous.
With that thought, I looked back at Zander and smiled, “It’s our pleasure. Thanks, Alpha Zander.”
With that, I turned around to hand Wendy the keys before getting into Zander’s car and sitting right next to him.
Hannah smartly slid into the backseat without prompting.
I fastened my seatbelt and glanced back at her.
If she hadn’t bantered, I wouldn’t have ended up in Zander’s car.
Probably feeling guilty, she turned her head toward the window and pretended not to notice my gaze.
Zander raised an eyebrow with a smirk. “Miss Watson, where do you live?”
14153
Hannah told him the location of the Amber Pack, and then Zander stepped on the accelerator, heading to that destination.
Fifteen minutes later, we pulled up, and Hannah got out, leaving only Zander and me in the car.
As the car stopped at a traffic light after driving a few hundred meters, Zander turned to look at me and said, “Ms. Johnson, seems like you’re not fond of me.”
I avoided his gaze and politely smiled as I explained, “I don’t want others to get the wrong idea.”
“About what?”
Zander snorted, “That I’m trying to win your affections? But it’s true. That’s what I’ve been doing, Olivia.”
He seemed to be very skilled at flirting with women, as such words of affection rolled off his tongue effortlessly.
He was less rude than Marsh, though.
Raising an eyebrow, I asked, “Alpha Zander, what do you like about me? Or you’re just doing it because you need a Luna?”
He didn’t answer my question. Instead, he asked me back, “What don’t you like about me?”
“From what I know, you need a Luna, so it seems that you’ve been on the hunt for someone suitable nonstop,” I replied tactfully
“Sounds like you’ve done some digging,” he said with a smirk.
“Well, not exactly. Word travels fast about the Blackthorn Pack here,” I replied with a smile.
After returning to San Francisco, I heard plenty of gossip about Zander from werewolves in various packs despite that I didn’t deliberately inquire about it.
It sounded like he couldn’t find Luna because he was too fickle.
“I won’t deny anything happened in the past, but I can assure you that I’ll be absolutely loyal to you forever.”
Hearing that, I couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at him. “And how can you guarantee that, Alpha Zander?”
A reformed playboy?
I wasn’t a naive college girl anymore. No way I’d buy into that nonsense!
Even the relationship bound by a mating bond could be destroyed, let alone the so–called love.
Zander chuckled. “I know you don’t believe me, Olivia, but time will prove everything.”
He sounded quite confident. I just lowered my head and smiled, saying. “Guess I’ll just wait then.”
Anyway, I didn’t believe it.
Zander kept his gaze locked onto mine, making my cheeks heat up. I deliberately turned away, not wanting him to continue staring at me.
“Well then, make sure you’re waiting patiently for me.”
The light turned green, so I reminded him, “You may keep driving now, Alpha Zander.”
He glanced at me, his eyes deep and profound. When our eyes met, I couldn’t help but admit that he was truly captivating.

But so what?
I only wanted to focus on my career now.
Seeing that things were going smoothly, Zander didn’t push any more conversations for the rest of the journey.
When the car stopped at my apartment, it was already half past ten.
Unbuckling the seatbelt, I piped up. “Thank you, Alpha Zander.”
He leaned back against his seat, turning his head toward me before venturing, “How about dinner tomorrow night?”
I replied after getting out of the car, “Although I don’t understand why you like me, I suggest you give up. I’m really not interested in
relationships right now.”
“Oh really? Can you guarantee you’ll never be interested again?”
I raised an eyebrow and answered. “Then I hope you stop showing up around me until that happens.”
With that, I shut the car door, stepping aside. “Be careful on your way. Alpha Zander.”
He shot one last amused glance my way, saying, “Goodnight, my future girlfriend.”
