Chapter 26
Olivia’s POV
I was strutting in my high heels, heading away from Marsh step by step.
The whole hallway echoed with the click–clack of my stilettos.
“You’re angry,” Elara spoke in my mind.
“I hate it when he meddles in my business,” I told her.
“Maybe he’s finally remembering we’re his mate,” she joked, which was a rare case. Then she added, “I can sense his anger, although pretty faint.”
I got what she meant. Marsh still had some pull over me, but it was definitely fading.
Marsh’s presence annoyed me, so I found Hannah and said straight up. “Let’s go.”
She raised an eyebrow at me and asked, “What’s wrong? Did you run into someone in the ladies‘ room that upset you?”
I nodded slightly. “I bumped into Marsh on my way back.”
Hannah’s face lit up with understanding. “Oh, you ran into a nut, huh? No. wonder!” she shrugged and said.
I chuckled a bit when suddenly I heard footsteps beside me.
When I turned around, I saw Beta Jeffrey standing there, about to greet
- us.
Compared to Marsh, he seemed way more invested in the Dawn Pack.
Yet when I was still there, he chose to side with Marsh and locked me up in the basement, which undermined my Luna status. So I disliked him.
Ignoring him, Hannah and I left the banquet hall together.
When we were driving back home, the car suddenly came to a halt.
Hannah started freaking out.
She slammed the steering wheel, snapping, “No way! Why does it have to break down now of all times?!”
I unbuckled my seatbelt and said, “Let’s get out and check it out.”
With that. I got out of the car and popped open the hood to take a look
Honestly, I didn’t know much about cars, but it looked like it broke down.
Hannah joined me outside. lifting her dress as she walked over. “Did it break down?”
I glanced at her and replied with a smile. “Did you get blessed by the Moon Goddess or something? Your guess is right.”
My teasing lightened her mood a bit.
She pouted and asked, “So what do we do now?”
“What else can we do? We gotta call someone to fix this mess.”
There was no way we were gonna spend all night here dressed like this.
Then, I took out my phone and called Wendy
“I’ll be there in fifteen minutes, and the staff from the towing company will arrive in twenty minutes.” she told me.
“Okay, well done, Wendy.”
“No problem! Just make sure you two stay safe!”
I knew she was probably worrying we would be in trouble like last time.
After all, Hannah and I were dressed in sexy evening gowns, and we had to stay on the side of the road in the middle of the night.
But if we got to shift, she would have nothing to worry about.
I appreciated Wendy looking out for us, though, so I replied with a simple “Okay.”
After hanging up, I grabbed some warning triangles from the backseat and set them up behind our car.
Just as I finished placing them, a Maserati pulled up beside us.
The backseat window slowly rolled down, revealing Beta Jeffrey’s face. “Luna Olivia, is your car broken down? Need any help?” he kindly asked.
I gave him a quick glance, catching sight of Marsh’s cold profile on the other side.
“No need to bother, Jeffrey,” I politely smiled.
C’mon, just let me help. After all, we’re both members of the Dawn Pack.”
I raised an eyebrow, replying, “But soon, I won’t be anymore.”
He seemed startled by my words, his expression turning awkward as he struggled to find something to say.
Before I could speak again, Marsh piped up from inside the car with an icy tone, “Drive.”
Charter 26
His command left Jeffrey even more shocked than before.
Jeffrey turned around, asking, “Alpha Marsh, Olivia’s car broke down. Shouldn’t we help her?”
“What does it have to do with me?”
Marsh’s voice wasn’t too loud but clear enough for me to hear every word.
As soon as he finished speaking, the car slowly started.
I stared at it, the smile on my lips fading away little by little.
Hannah muttered some curses toward their tail lights, and I chuckled, “Alright, if someone captures that on camera, they’ll think you’re crazy.”
“I’m just mad! What’s with him acting all high–and–mighty?! Who needs his help anyway?! He’s just a damn cheater who’s good for nothing.”
I walked over to pop open our trunk and bent down, grabbing two bottles. of water.
Handing one bottle over to Hannah, I said, “Just chill. Wendy will be here in fifteen minutes.”
In fact, she showed up even faster than expected.
After her car screeched to a halt, she walked briskly towards me and greeted, “Ms. Johnson.”
I nodded, replying, “Sorry for disturbing you so late.”
Wendy shook her head. “Not at all. After all, Alpha Hunter sent me here. just to keep you safe.”
As she spoke, she handed me her car keys. “Ms. Johnson, you and Miss Watson should head home. I’ll wait here for the tow truck guys.”
She was a girl, too, so I felt inappropriate to leave her here at this hour.
“It’s okay. I’ll stick around until they show up.” I replied.
Seeing how determined I was, Wendy nodded without pushing further. Then, the three of us stood by the roadside, waiting for those tow truck
folks.
Soon, a car pulled up in front of us, but it wasn’t from any towing
company.
