Chapter 25
Olivia’s POV
“I can’t dance,” I said.
Well, in fact, I could. I just didn’t wanna dance with him.
“Don’t worry. I won’t get mad even if you step on my toes,” he replied with a grin.
I was rendered speechless.
Before I could protest, Zander had already taken my hand and led me onto the dance floor.
As I stood there, I caught sight of Marsh. He didn’t speak, but his expression was icy.
I’d never seen that possessive look on him.
If it were before, I’d feel flattered. But now, it just made me sick.
I turned back to Zander, shifting my focus onto our steps.
On the dance floor, our movements started syncing up like we were born to do this together.
As the rhythm shifted from soft to upbeat, under Zander’s lead, my movements became light and confident. The hem of my skirt traced. graceful arcs in the air as we spun around.
People around us seemed to be affected by our vibe, instinctively clearing a space for us in the center of the dance floor.
Everyone started to fix their gaze on us.
Deep inside me, Elara began to speak to me, her voice buzzing with surprise and excitement.
“Do you feel it, Olivia?” she whispered.
“Feel what?” I replied while keeping up with Zander’s rhythm.
“His scent somehow matches ours,” she said with a hint of confusion in her tone.
“Maybe it’s because Marsh’s nearby,” I analyzed. I didn’t think her feeling was correct, so I emphasized again, “We haven’t rejected Marsh yet, so there’s no way we’re feeling a bond with another werewolf.”
Elara fell silent after that.
Perhaps she did sense something, but she gotta admit that I was right.
On the edge of the dance floor, I noticed Beta Jeffrey observing us with a hint of complexity in his eyes.
He looked like he wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn’t.
“I didn’t know you were so good at waltz,” I complimented with a smile.
“Since I have to attend business banquets often, I’ve had lessons,” Zander replied with a smirk like he was saying that not all werewolves were just ruthless fighters.
As Zander led me, my steps were getting faster and my moves were getting fancier.
My long dress swayed up from time to time, making the guests gasp in
awe.

When the song ended, we slowly came to a stop. Then, the crowd broke into loud applause.
Zander and I made our way off the floor, and I heard Hannah laugh while clapping, “Alpha Marsh, you’re not jealous or anything, are you?”
Marsh shot her an icy glance before scoffing. “Of course not!”
With that, he turned and left the banquet hall.
Hannah raised a brow and snorted, “He was obviously jealous! Liar”
Zander followed behind me as he asked, “Ms. Johnson, didn’t you say you couldn’t dance?”
I darted him a sideways glance. “Well, don’t you think so?”
I refused to admit it, and Zander didn’t seem like he minded it. Seeing me lifting my skirt as I walked away, he piped up. “Are you leaving already?”
“I’m just going to the ladies‘ room.”
He finally stopped in his tracks.
I then shifted my gaze away and quickly blended into the crowd.
Hannah ran over and said. “Impressive! You totally stole the limelight just now. I recorded some clips for you. I gotta say, you and Alpha Zander seem to be vibing with each other.”
I glanced at her from the corner of my eye and replied. “I know I’m good, but I don’t think I’m vibing with him.”
She pouted and said. “To be honest, just now, you two looked great together on the dance floor.”
I then grabbed myself a drink before telling Hannah. “Well, then you
might need glasses.”
She chuckled. “Anyway, Zander seems to be going all out to woo you.”
“And you used him to provoke Marsh again, didn’t you?“.
“But I didn’t say anything wrong. Who knew he’d get so worked up?” she grumbled.
After chatting for a while longer with Hannah, I continued to greet the guests from different companies. Hannah, perhaps finding it boring, went grab drinks herself.
Around nine o’clock, I found her and said, “I’m going to the ladies‘ room. Be right back. Just wait here.”
Hannah, who had been bored all evening, nodded before urging me, “Hurry up! It’s so dull here. I’m never coming again!”
Knowing she hated these kinds of events, I patted her shoulder and rushed off.
At this hour, the party was peaking, and most people were in the banquet hall. Thus, there were only a few people in the ladies‘ room, and the hallway was quiet.
Just as I stepped out, I heard a familiar voice.
When I looked up, Marsh was right there leaning against the railing not far ahead, talking on the phone.
Perhaps hearing my footsteps, he turned and gave me a cold glance sideways.
I just shrugged nonchalantly and walked past him without sparing him a glance.
“Zander’s way too cunning, Olivia. You should keep your distance. Or you’ll feel sorry.”
I paused and turned around, raising an eyebrow at him. “Were you talking to me, Alpha Marsh?”
His face darkened as soon as I finished. “It’s just you and me here.”
With a chuckle. I brushed my hair aside casually before sneering, “My bad. I thought it was some dog barking at me.”
Then, I watched his stiff expression in glee, adding, “Thank you for the heads up. But, besides marrying you, I’ve never suffered any losses my entire life.”
After saying that, I wiped the smile off my face.
Then, I met his cold and fierce gaze for a while before finally striding off.
