Chapter 23
Olivia’s POV
I stared at the roses in silence, thinking, ‘Since I’ve just decided yesterday that I’m not gonna respond to Zander’s advances for now, I can’t take them.‘
Thus, I said to the assistant, “Take these away; they’re yours now.”
She looked shocked. “What?”
Before she could say anything more, I pushed through the door and walked into my office.
Moments later, I headed back out with the report Wendy had given me this morning.
“Ms. Johnson, would you like some coffee?” the assistant asked while holding the bouquet.
“Thanks, but no. I need to talk to Mr. Bell about work,” I replied with a smile.
My gaze swept over the bouquet–the red roses looked so vibrant.
After losing in thought for a while, I tore my eyes away. With the file in hand, I then clicked my way straight to Morgan’s office in heels.
Due to my dissatisfaction with Morgan, I walked with big strides.
When Morgan’s assistant saw me, he froze for a second. “Ms. Johnson. are you here to see Mr. Bell?”
“Yes.” I nodded.
“I’ll go tell him,” he quickly replied.
I shot him a look and said, “No need.”
With that, I knocked on the door myself.
“Come in.”
After receiving a response, I pushed the door open and marched right up to Morgan’s desk holding that file.
Then, I looked down at him and asked bluntly, “Mr. Bell, are there any issues with our deal with Cloud Real Estate?”
Upon hearing my words, he scowled before tossing his pen onto the desk. and leaning back in his chair.
With his head tilted back, he spoke in a deep voice, “Ms. Johnson, we’ve been cooperating with Polka Company for so many years. If we suddenly switch our partner, it will inevitably lead to negative speculation in the industry.”
I smiled as I handed over the file in my hand. “Mr. Bell, I understand your concerns, but I think you should take a look at this first.”
I guessed he had read the file.
But I still chose to show it to him, just to tell him that I knew all about his shady dealings with Willson.
If he still decided to go against me, I’d spill everything to the higher–ups.
Morgan went pale after flipping through the first page. He looked up at me, his brow knitted.
Chapter 23
#1
“What is this, Ms. Johnson? Where did you get it?” he snapped.
I chuckled, “It doesn’t matter where it came from. You just need to know one thing: I can guarantee that the data is 100% legit. I won’t dwell on past issues, as they weren’t under my watch. But since you’ve entrusted this project to me, I’ll ensure that we won’t incur any losses.”
Pausing for a bit, I added, “Or do you think it’s fine for us to keep being Polka Company’s cash cow?”
With that, I looked at him with a half–smile.
Morgan’s face darkened even more, and under my piercing gaze, he started to avoid making eye contact with me.
Then a trace of guilt flashed in his eyes.
Forcing a smile, he said, “You know what? I always think that although you’re not very experienced, your ideas and drive are excellent. I guess you’re right. We don’t have to stick with Polka Company anymore.”
He then took the contract from the side and signed it without hesitation.
I took the contract from him and said, “I’m really glad to hear that you and I are on the same page. Rest assured, I’ll follow up on this contract, as it’s part of my job.”
As long as Morgan didn’t mess with me, I would never expose him.
Morgan stiffened for a moment before standing up, saying, “Ms. Johnson, you have limitless potential.”
I caught onto the sarcasm dripping from his tone, but I didn’t give a damn.
I’ve got leverage over him now, so he would think twice before trying to pull any tricks.
Suddenly, thoughts of the Dawn Pack popped into my mind.
If I hadn’t put my whole heart and soul into it back then, maybe I wouldn’t. have ended up so miserable right now.
Snapping back to reality, I sighed inwardly and immediately shifted my attention to Morgan, saying, “Mr. Bell, you’re flattering me. I’ve got a lot to learn.”
After hearing that, he softened a bit and gave a smile. “Well then, Ms. Johnson, let’s learn from each other and work together to make Wonder Company better.”
“Sure, Mr. Bell.”
As I stepped out of Morgan’s office, the smile on my face gradually faded
away.
“Your heart was racing earlier,” Elara chimed in my head.
“I know. Talking with someone as cunning as Morgan requires full focus,” I responded.
“Humans are so complicated! If you let me take over, I’d use my claws to make him submit,” she snorted.
“If that happened, I’d end up dragged off to werewolf court!” I joked.
Monday was always the busiest of all work days. After dealing with Morgan, I basically spent all day having meetings.
By the time things finally cleared up, night had already fallen.
Wendy knocked on the door before stepping inside, asking, “Ms. Johnson, there’s a dinner party this Thursday. Would you like to attend?”
I rubbed my temples as I wondered, “What is it about?”
Chapter
“Business.”
I thought for a moment and said, “I’ll be there. Go make arrangements.”
“Got it, Ms. Johnson.” Wendy nodded before leaving.
I glanced at the clock on the wall, only to find it was already half past six.
Just as I was about to get off work with my handbag, my phone started buzzing
Seeing the caller ID, I couldn’t help but grin. “Hannah?”
