Chapter 22
Olivia’s POV
I had just driven out of the bar when I suddenly realized I had forgotten my phone.
Not wanting to turn back. I just parked on the side of the road and walked there.
As soon as I arrived at the entrance of the bar, however, I heard Marsh insult me.
Immediately. I felt a sharp pain in my chest.
But I soon shook it off.
“He’s lying!” Elara chimed in my head. “His wolf craves us.
Her words didn’t cheer me up at all.
“Ignore them!” I responded to her in my mind, then I kept striding toward. the bar.
Elara grumbled a bit but didn’t argue with me.
Beta Jeffrey, who gave me a glance from the corner of his eye, nudged Marsh with his elbow.
“What?” Marsh snapped, sounding a bit annoyed.
Then he turned around, looking at me with a frown.
Rolling my eyes upward. I walked to the counter, asking the bartender for my phone.

After getting it, I headed out, ready to leave.
Just then, I heard Zander chuckle, “Well, if that’s how it is, then great! You definitely won’t mind me pursuing Ms. Johnson, right?”
What?
Shocked at his bluntness, I couldn’t help but glance at him.
As he got into the sports car on the roadside, he flashed me a smile. Meanwhile, Marsh let out an irritated huff.
Beta Jeffrey suddenly piped up, “Alpha, you shouldn’t say that about Olivia. After all, she’s your Luna.”
Marsh shot him a cold look, snorting, “So what? I was just telling the truth.”
Beta Jeffrey froze.
Marsh then lit up a cigarette, a smirk on his face.
“This is our so–called mate.” I said to Elara bitterly.
With that, I strode to my car without looking back.
As I drove down the road, the night breeze ruffled through my hair, easing away some of that lingering annoyance in my chest.
When I glanced at the rearview mirror, I noticed another car keeping its distance behind me.
That was Zander’s ride.
After quite some time, it was still there tailing me. Even so, I had no intention of stopping to ask what he wanted.

Right now, all I cared about was reclaiming my company and getting
away from Marsh. For the time being, I didn’t wanna accept his offer or think about what he might be after.
Even if he was my second chance mate, he might betray me, not to mention that he probably wasn’t.
“Maybe he is,” Elara whispered in my mind.
After leaving the Dawn Pack and Marsh, both Elara and I went through some tough times.
Our mating bond had waned, and our strength had weakened, but thankfully, Marsh’s betrayal no longer stung me as much as before.
“Wake up already, Elara,” I replied in my head. “Zander is the Alpha of the Blackthorn Pack. He needs a Luna who can help him solidify his position in the pack rather than just a mate.”
“But you’re the daughter of the Red Moon Pack’s Alpha,” Elara reminded
- me.
“I’m not ready to reveal that yet–not until Marsh and I officially reject each other,” I told her.
When I drove into the parking lot, Zander’s car finally disappeared from view.
I parked and took the elevator straight back up to my apartment from level B1.
It was indeed a long day. After I finished washing up, I threw myself onto the bed, falling asleep real quick.

I slept like a rock all night long. The next morning, the alarm clock jolted.

me awake.
February mornings in Los Angeles weren’t bright enough yet at seven o’clock; the darkness still lingered outside.
I shook off sleepiness and got out of bed to freshen up.
This morning, I had an early meeting, so I got up earlier than usual. As soon as I arrived at the office, Wendy knocked on my door and came in. “Ms. Johnson,” she greeted.
I looked up at her, asking, “Anything you wanna tell me?”
“Mr. Bell hasn’t signed off on the contract.”
I let out a sarcastic laugh, thinking, ‘As expected.”
I raised an eyebrow and changed the subject. “Did you find anything out about Willson and his corp?”
“Yes, Ms. Johnson.” Wendy nodded as she handed me a file. “I came here specifically to deliver this investigation report.”
I took the file and flipped through it before scoffing, “Have you read it? Our company has become Polka Company’s cash cow. This year alone, they’ve raked in quite a bit from us.”
I closed the file and glanced back at Wendy, saying, “Alright, let’s go to the meeting first.”
On Friday night; I signed the contract with Jason straight up. Yet, I was just a manager, so the effectiveness of the contract ultimately depended on Morgan’s signature.
His refusal to sign off on it, apparently, meant that he wouldn’t approve it.
Thus, the meeting didn’t go well. Half a month after I joined, Morgan
finally targeted me.
Neither of us agreed on anything, which led us nowhere fast during discussions.
The conference room was so quiet that even a pin drop could be heard; everyone inside held their breath, not daring to say a word.
I sat back down and glanced at Morgan with a half–smile, saying, “Mr. Bell, since you think this proposal isn’t suitable, let’s wrap today’s meeting
here.”
Although he didn’t say anything, his face softened a bit,
“Revise your proposal, and we’ll discuss
With that, he got up and left.
it again in three days.”
After watching him stride off with a raised brow, I exited the room, too.
As soon as I walked back to my office, Wendy’s assistant suddenly came over with a bouquet of flowers. “Ms. Johnson, these are for you.”
It was a bunch of fake red roses. The moment I saw them, Zander’s name popped up in my head.
So he was serious?
