Chapter 17
Olivia’s POV
The motorcycle roared for over twenty minutes before finally pulling up
outside a bar.
I hopped off, calling my wolf in my mind as I looked at the man in front of me.
He led me through the bar to the back door.
Pushing the door open, we stepped into a small alley away from the main
street.
I took a deep breath.
As a werewolf, I got an acute sense of smell. I smelt the mingled scents of mud and tobacco.
“You’re quite bold,” the man said as he stopped to look back at me.
I nonchalantly shrugged.
But deep down, I was thinking about how to ditch these guys.
As I was pondering, he stopped before one of the one–story houses
Then he opened the door and turned to look at me, saying. “Come on in.”
I glanced at him and walked into the room without saying anything
The house was rather simple with little furniture. Besides the living room facing the front door, there was a room inside.
It might be a bedroom, I guessed.
I walked to the dining table and looked around.
The man opened the fridge and took out a small glass bottle.
“Since you’re
‘re sensible, I won’t make things hard for you. Drink this and then you can go.”
Staring at the glass of whiskey in his hand, I arched my brow. “And what if I don’t?”
“Well then, you’re gonna be sorry for it.”
Looking at the glass of whiskey, I caught a whiff of some kind of herb.
But since it was mixed with alcohol, I couldn’t figure out exactly what it was, let alone its effect.
Considering we were in Los Angeles, I guessed he wouldn’t dare to feed me a lethal dose of poison.
And drugs that worked on humans usually didn’t do squat to werewolves.
So I reached out to take the whiskey and drank it in one gulp.
Then, I turned the glass upside down. “See? I’m done. Can I go now?”
The man clapped his hands. “Impressive! Off you go.”
With that, he gestured towards the door.
But I didn’t leave instantly.
The whiskey was spiked. If I left now, I might lose control halfway and shift in public. That would be a disaster.
So, I walked into the room and sat down on the sofa. Seeing that I stayed,
the man was taken aback. “Aren’t you leaving?”
“I’m feeling a bit dizzy. Can’t I sit for a while?” I asked.
“Sure, do whatever you like!”
The man fixed his eyes on me and continued, “But I think you back. It’s getting late, and it’s not safe here.”
I darted a glance at him. “Why?”
He didn’t answer my question.
should go
After sitting for a bit, I started feeling hot. But there was no heater in the room. I shouldn’t feel that way.
I immediately figured out why–the drug in that whiskey had begun to take effect.
Just then, the door of the room was pushed open, and two men came in. I didn’t know who they were, but they seemed to recognize me. “We were paid, so we gotta do our job. Sorry.”
“Who sent you?” I asked, trying to remain calm.
‘A woman named Emily,” one of the men said disdainfully.
I immediately understood why the drug in the whiskey was working on
- me.
Turned out that Emily chose wolfsbane, something that was effective on werewolves.
My body began to heat up.
I called out to my wolf, but she seemed to be in a confused state of mind.
Another man laughed, “With your pretty face and curvy body, we’re in for
a treat!”
While staring lewdly at me, he put the camera on a tripod.
Just then, the man who brought me here came in and ordered. “Strip her naked, and don’t block her face. Understand?”
With that, he turned to leave. I gritted my teeth, asking, “How much did she pay you?”
The man paused in his tracks. Then he looked back at me and smiled, “Nice try. I’ve got my code of ethics.”
As if recalling something, he murmured, “We agreed to shoot in the wild. Hope she’ll be satisfied with this footage.”
Then he closed the door and left.
I was feeling weak and hot, my consciousness fading.
I glanced at the remaining men who started to undress in front of me and shouted, “You’d better stay away from me.”
They chuckled like it was the funniest thing ever and stripped down in no time.
After exchanging a glance, they walked towards me together. “Don’t be nervous. You’re gonna love it.”
Hearing this, I sneered and dug my nails into my palm.
I picked up an ashtray from the table and smacked it hard against one of
the men.
As a Luna, I had a lot of battle experience.
Only using a third of my strength, I made the guy howl in pain.
Just then, the door was kicked open.
Wendy and Hannah rushed in.
“Are you hurt?” Hannah asked anxiously.
As the wolfsbane clouded my mind, I managed to tell Hannah before blacking out, “They spiked my drink with wolfsbane. Please take me to your pack and ask the pack doctor to treat me.”
Then I lost consciousness.
When I finally came around, I found myself in the Amber Pack.
On the bedside table lay an empty vial.
Seeing me come to, Hannah exclaimed, “You’re awake! Fortunately, the type of wolfsbane is not very complicated. Our pack doctor managed to work out an antidote for you real quick.”
Wendy locked eyes with me, asking, “Are yo
you still feeling rough?”
I shook my head, replying, “Much better.”
Then she asked another question, “Did you find out who was behind all this?”
“Emily.”
“Emily?”
Hannah jumped up in astonishment.
Actually, I wasn’t surprised. I had almost figured out the ins and outs before that guy told me it was Emily who hired them. I just didn’t expect

she would be so ruthless.
“You can’t just let this slide, right?” Hannah was fuming, her face twisted
in anger.
Recalling the incident last night, I looked up at her and raised my eyebrow. “Let it slide?
“I ain’t no wimp. I gotta give her tit for tat!”
