Chapter 13
Olivia’s POV
As the final notes of the dance music echoed through the banquet hall, the crowd gradually melted away, leaving the place a mess with scattered cups and plates as well as murmurs.
Zander walked up to me, whispering, “Have you signed the papers?”
“Not yet,” I admitted frankly. “But I will leave the Dawn Pack and head to San Francisco with you.”
“Leaving the Dawn Pack does not mean you have to wander like a rogue. The Blackthorn Pack is spacious where you can live comfortably,” Zander offered, and his brows slightly furrowed.
When I looked at him, warmth welled up inside me. “Alpha Zander, I appreciate your kindness. But I won’t end up being on the streets. I have my own plan and place to go.”
Zander did not insist. Instead, he took a step back and smiled, “I got it. My car will depart early tomorrow morning. Let’s meet at the hotel entrance and set off.”
“I will be there on time,” I said.
“After you leave the Dawn Pack, we will discuss how to get rid of Marsh and get back your company.”
We nodded to each other in farewell, and I turned around, about to leave.
As I stood at the hotel entrance, as expected, I did not see Marsh’s car.
He knew I attended the dinner party but did not wait for me.
I sneered in my heart and then just walked to my own car.
Hannah went after me and got in the car silently.
As I fastened my seatbelt, I looked up to find Hannah handing me her phone.
I raised an eyebrow and asked, “Who is that?”
“Alpha Hunter.”
I paused for a few seconds before taking Hannah’s phone and answering, “Dad.”
“It’s been two years, my girl. Time to come home.”
A few days ago, when Marsh locked me in the basement and asked me to apologize to Emily, I didn’t cry. When Marsh belittled me in front of Zander, I didn’t cry.
But now, hearing my father’s concerned voice, I couldn’t hold up my tears.
anymore.
Two years ago, when I wanted to marry Marsh, my father, my mother, and most of the pack opposed it..
But I was too young and naive by then. I thought since Marsh declared we were mates, he must had feelings for me.
However, the past two years proved I was totally wrong.
It turned out that a man could marry a woman not for love or admiration but for the development of his pack.
The one Marsh loved was Emily. My marriage was more like a drama.
Chapter 13
I, though with the title of Luna Olivia, was just a foil to them.
Silly as I was when I left my family just for this scumbag. My father who loved me the most even said, “If you insist on marrying him, you’re not my daughter anymore!”
Thinking of that, I burst into tears.
But I could only try to suppress my sobs in case my father would hear. The countless grievances and unwillingness made my shoulders tremble pitifully.
“Olivia…” Hannah, however, didn’t go on.
We all knew that all of this was because of Marsh!
“I will return to the Red Moon Pack after I get my stuff done here.”
My father on the other end also choked up. “Okay, your mom and I are waiting for you to come home.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up the phone, I covered my face with my hands, crying loud.
As a grown–up, I made my parents worry about me just because of Marsh!
I felt so sorry and disappointed them.
Hannah took the phone and silently waited for me to vent my emotions.
After five minutes, I calmed down. I took the tissue to wipe my tears while telling her hoarsely, “I’m gonna go back to San Francisco.”
“What?” Hannah looked at me in surprise. After a while, she continued, “You want to leave the Dawn Pack? I mean, have you and Marsh rejected
cach other?”
“Marsh refused to reject me. Besides, the separation of a pack’s Alpha and Luna requires the witness of the Council of Elders. So he won’t accept my rejection for the sake of his wolf,” I said bitterly.
“What a jerk!” Hannah snapped.
I fell silent. Marsh used to show some respect to me.
But all of this changed after Emily returned.
Hannah suddenly exclaimed as if recalling something, “What about Alphat Zander? I know his Blackthorn Pack is in San Francisco, and his company is much larger than Marsh’s. If he puts pressure on the Council of Elders, perhaps he can force Marsh to agree to your rejection.”
I coughed lightly, a bit embarrassed, and said. “I have talked with him. He wanted me to become his Luna.”
“What?” Hannah’s voice suddenly rose.
I cannot help but facepalm.
I should have told her earlier.
After seeing her calm down, I continued, “You know, he has not found a mate, which is not helpful in managing the pack.”
“So you are going to San Francisco to…” Hannah weighed her words carefully and finally said, “To be his contractual Luna”?”
I smiled, “Too soon to tell. Don’t forget that my father’s Red Moon Pack is also in San Francisco. So, I need to see how he’ll help me regain my company before I make my decision.”
With that, I started the car while Hannah was still in shock.
Chapter 13
Back at the Dawn Pack, I had a rare good sleep.
The next morning, after I freshened up and got changed, I went to the entrance of the Dawn Pack with my car keys.
My car was parked there.
Out of my expectations, Marsh suddenly rushed out. “Stop!”
