Chapter 10
Zander’s POV
From Olivia’s reaction when she saw me at the dinner party, I knew she thought it was the first time we’d met.
I read shock and confusion in her bewildered expression.
But actually, we’d crossed paths before, not at some meticulously planned event, but by sheer chance.
The moment I first saw her was etched indelibly in my memory.
It was at a werewolf school in Los Angeles, a place that groomed future leaders of wolf packs.
Olivia stood out even among a crowd of exceptional students.
Her beauty and charm were hard to resist.
My wolf felt a strong pull towards her.
Every time I got close to Olivia, my wolf seemed more excited.
But if that was the attraction between a pair of destined mates, then why didn’t Olivia feel the same about me?
She only saw me as a stranger who went to the same school as her, which made me uncomfortable.
However, that was only part of the reason I didn’t approach her.
I stayed away because I was afraid.
Chapter 10
I was certain I’d lose control around her, which had never happened to me
when I was near a woman.
So, I could only watch her from afar.
I remember one time after school when I stumbled upon her being ambushed by three rogues.
It was a dangerous afternoon. She hadn’t had her first shift yet and couldn’t tap into her Alpha powers.
But she fought bravely against her opponents until she finally collapsed from exhaustion.
I quickly drove off the rogues, my heart filled with anger and worry.
I didn’t know which pack Olivia belonged to, nor where her home was.
In that situation, all I could do was carry her to the nearest werewolf hospital and make sure she received prompt treatment.
At the hospital, I recounted what had happened to the teachers and asked them to notify her family.
When the doctor asked for my name during the registration, I hesitated.
I blurted out “Marsh“, the name of one of my classmates.
Little did I know that split–second decision had a far–reaching ripple effect on Olivia’s fate.
Later, when I met Olivia again, she had become Marsh’s mate and the Luna of the Dawn Pack.
I had wondered, if I had left my own name, if she knew I was the one who saved her, would our destinies have been different?

But there were no what–ifs in reality. And I had to accept the facts before.
- me.
However, when Olivia told me she wanted to end her relationship with Marsh and asked for my help, I knew my chance had come.
I took a quick shower in the hotel bathroom, preparing to change and check my phone, hoping Olivia would reach out to me.
But as I stepped out in a bathrobe, there was a sudden knock on my hotel room door.
I opened it to see Emily.
She was wearing a flimsy dress, with delicate makeup and an unusual confidence in her eyes.
“Alpha Zander.” Her voice was flirtatious and also pretentious, which only disgusted me.
I frowned, puzzled. “What are you doing here?”
She barged in uninvited, walked into the room, and closed the door.
“I heard you’re looking for partners for the Los Angeles project. I’m here to discuss it with you on behalf of the Dawn Pack.”
I sneered, “You mean you can represent the Dawn Pack? And what position do you hold?”
Emily was taken aback.
Meanwhile, I mind–linked with my pack members. “Notify Alpha Marsh to come to my room immediately.”
I continued, “As far as I know, the Alpha of the Dawn Pack is Marsh, and the Luna is Olivia. Who are you?”
My words made Emily’s face turn awkward.
She bit her lip, feigning a pitiful expression.
“Yes, I’m just a poor lodger.” Emily started to play the victim. “Actually, I’m here because… I heard you’ve never found a mate, but you really need. a Luna.”
My wolf and I were both repulsed by her.
I leaned back on the sofa and said coldly, “You’re not qualified enough.”
She didn’t seem to catch the rejection in my tone and instead moved closer.
“That’s because you don’t know me well enough. You think Olivia is better? But she can’t keep her mate. Marsh is more obsessed with me: Aren’t you curious why?”
I had run out of patience. “You can leave now.”
Her expression froze for a moment, but she quickly regained her smile.
“Come on, Alpha Zander. I can become your Luna right away and go to the Blackthorn Pack with you.”
I sneered at her.
Her hand reached for her skirt.
She began to gently unbutton her dress, her eyes seductive. “I can show you my sincerity.”
“Then what about Marsh?” I asked sarcastically.
“For you, I can dump Marsh at any time.”
甘
Just as Emily said this, Marsh and my pack members burst through the door
Emily was startled.
She didn’t have time to pull up her dress and stood there, shivering
“What are you doing, Emily” Marsh’s voice was filled with anger
Emily tried to cover herself in a panic. “I. I just came to invite Zander to the dinner.”
Marsh’s face was gloomy and he obviously didn’t buy her words “Invite? Do you need to undress for that?
“And what did you just say?”
“I didn’t. I didn’t say anything” Emily defended herself in confusion.
Then she ran out of my room without looking back
Marsh turned to me with a bow. “Alpha Zander, I apologize for Emily’s doing”
Just then, my wolf sensed a familiar scent.
I looked up and saw Olivia, who had just arrived at the door behind Marsh
My wolf roared in my mind. “Mate!”
