Some folks on the internet went as far as tracking down the hospital and room where Lauren was staying. They showed up there, full of anger, giving her an earful. With the whole world’s eyes on them, the Hurst family was too scared to even step outside.
Their mansion didn’t hold up any better- windows smashed, trash everywhere, and even a few Molotov cocktails tossed in the yard. The place was a mess. Meanwhile, the Hurst family’s company lost the lawsuit, and with debts piling up and no one to bail them out, they declared. bankruptcy.

Hursts were already on the run, slipping away in the dead of night.
That evening, as I worked late at the office and headed down to the underground parking lot to grab my car, a cold blade pressed against my neck.
“Don‘ t move! One wrong move, and you‘ re done!”
I felt my heart skip but quickly recognized Leroy‘ s voice, and Velma was there, too. They were fugitives now with nothing left to lose, so they had the courage to do anything now.
Keeping my hands raised, I spoke in a steady voice, “What do you want?”
“What do we want?” Leroy hissed, voice thick with anger. “I want your life! Lauren’s gone because of you, and we’ve lost everything we ever had!”

Leroy’s voice cut through her sobs, full of rage. “Enough talking! She ruined us, so why should we let her have peace?”
The knife pressed harder, and I felt a sting as blood trickled down my neck. This was no time to be brave. I kept my tone steady and calm.
“Mr. And Mrs. Hurst, listen. Since things have come to this, how about I give you some money, you take it, go somewhere. far, and start over? I’ll give you ten million. It’s enough to build a new life. But if you kill me, you’ll be left with nothing.”
Leroy’s eyes narrowed, his breathing heavy. “How much did you say?”
“Ten million. It’s yours if you let me
go.”
He gritted his teeth, his eyes wild.

“Fine. Just give me the account number. I’ll call my finance team to transfer it. I don’t have that kind of cash in my personal account.”
Leroy quickly rattled off the account. number, and I dialed the finance department.
“Miss Steel, don‘ t ask questions. I’ll send you an account number on WhatsApp -transfer twenty million there immediately. I’m down in the parking garage, so I can’t come up.‘
My hurried tone and mention of the parking garage were enough to tip them off that I was in trouble.
A minute later, Leroy‘ s phone buzzed with the notification. I looked at him, feeling the tension build. “Check it. The money‘ s there. Now, let me go.
With trembling hands, Leroy glanced at his phone, then nodded to Velma. They shoved me down and took off in a hurry.
