Chapter 10
Trix’s POV
The Hurst couple didn’t have much luck dodging justice–they got convicted on several charges and were handed a life sentence, sending them off to prison together. The twenty million they‘ d wrangled from my company account was recovered, wrapping up this mess just about perfectly.
Not long after, I went to see them in prison, and that’s when they finally told me the secret they’d kept buried for twenty years. Turns out, one night, Leroy had a fling with his neighbor Frank Montgomery’s wife. after getting a bit too deep into his drinks. She ended up pregnant, and by some twist of fate, Velma was also expecting around the same time.

large sum of money to keep his mouth shut about Leroy’s mistake. Back then, Leroy’s business was just starting out, and he didn’t have that kind of cash. Quietly, I set things up with a few media outlets, letting the story trickle out little by little. I even took on a gig as a street food vendor, grilling up spicy skewers to

For a while, I thought maybe they’d had some deep reason for leaving me behind, something that might make sense if I understood. But now, knowing the truth, I see it was nothing more than greed and selfishness–they‘ re not worthy of any sympathy.
With the truth out and this chapter closed, I’m ready to move on and pour myself
