“Why did you call him here? He was fine abroad.”
Ji Mingli’s nervousness was almost comical. He had initially justified everything so righteously, claiming it was all for his buddy’s sake.
But now that the buddy was here, he was panicking.
“You said it was all for your buddy, right? So am I. I’m worried about Qiu Yue’s condition worsening, and since you’re just a temporary husband who can’t take responsibility, I found her fiancé.”
“Don’t block me; I need to give him the exact address.”
Ji Mingli kept holding my hand. Meanwhile, Chen Jun had found the hospital room and rushed over upon seeing us.
“Mingli, Dr. Lin, you both have been so considerate. Qiu Yue went through something so serious and didn’t tell me. Thank you for taking care of her at this hour.”
“Dr. Lin, where is she?”
Ji Mingli looked so flustered it was almost amusing.
I casually pointed to the room, and Chen Jun thanked us as he headed there. Ji Mingli quickly followed.
“Chen Jun, she’s not feeling well. Let her rest a bit longer!”
After Ji Mingli chased after him, I called my lawyer to handle the divorce paperwork and asked about the quickest way to finalize it.
Once the call ended, a nurse approached to ask if I still wanted to move rooms. I shook my head.
“I’m going back to Central Hospital. Please handle my discharge papers.”
“What? You’re leaving so late?”
“Does your husband need to be informed?”
I shook my head.
She sighed. By now, everyone knew Ji Mingli was my husband and about his affair with Qiu Yue. They felt sorry for me.
I understood.
The discharge was quick. After paying, I took a cab to Central Hospital.
While recovering at Central Hospital, Ji Mingli never called, and messages stopped entirely.
I heard Chen Jun caused quite a stir, even involving the police at the hospital.
But I wasn’t interested in the details. My focus was the divorce.
After confirming with the lawyer, I sent over the divorce papers.
Ji Mingli surprisingly replied quickly.
“I disagree. I won’t divorce you.”
He said a lot about not agreeing.
I didn’t respond.
I was determined to divorce, whether he agreed or not.
After handing over contact matters to my lawyer, I went home.
This was the house Ji Mingli and I worked hard to buy outright.
But the hospital was far from home, so I only returned on weekends. I usually stayed in the dorm, and sometimes even on weekends, I couldn’t make it back due to shifts.
The new security guard at our complex didn’t recognize me. My face recognition wasn’t working, so he said, “Wait a moment, I’ll contact Mrs. Ji.”
Mrs. Ji?
I haven’t officially divorced Ji Mingli yet, so Mrs. Ji should be me, right?
In my confusion, the guard made a call.
Soon enough, Qiu Yue came down with a cat.
