On Our Anniversary, He Became Another Woman’s Husband for a Day Ch 5
Chapter 5
The blood on the ground was shocking. Jason Lee called out to me anxiously.

“Honey, why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be on duty tonight?”

“I… I just…”

He realized his excuses were weak and didn’t know what to say, just awkwardly holding onto me.

If it hadn’t been for the nurse shouting, “Let go of her, we need to take Dr. Lin for an examination, she’s had a miscarriage.”

“Miscarriage?”

“How could she have a miscarriage?”

Jason kept questioning.

The doctor, who examined me, was so angry that he finally said, “Dr. Lin has been pregnant for two months with twins.”

Twins.

I saw Jason’s face turn pale instantly.

These were the children we had eagerly awaited for so long. We had been looking forward to them since getting married, but due to work, it hadn’t happened until now.

After three years of preparation, finally conceiving twins, they were lost because of Jason Lee.

It was all so tragic and ridiculous.

As I was pushed for emergency treatment, he kept asking if I was really pregnant.

Once confirmed, he grabbed my hand.

“Why didn’t you say sooner!”

“If I had known it was you, how could I have done this!”

His explanation was pathetic, making me feel even more disgusted.

Even as I was wheeled into the operating room, he was still frantically explaining things I no longer cared about.

When the door closed with a bang, seeing the stark light of the operating room, I truly felt my bond with these two children was over.

“Dr. Lin, you know your condition as an obstetrician. We can only remove the children now.”

At that moment, even though I had planned not to keep the child, I couldn’t stop my tears.

As they fell, my cheeks felt unbearably warm.

After the surgery, when I was moved to the ward, Samantha Hill lay nearby.

Jason Lee was doting on her, feeding soup, wiping her mouth, and even brought a cake for her.

When I was pushed in, he hurriedly brought over the leftover cake.

“Want something sweet?”

I shook my head.

The nurse beside me sneered, “You just had surgery, can’t eat yet. You need to be observed for a while.”

Jason nodded, sat beside me, and stared at my stomach for a long time before saying, “Don’t misunderstand about Samantha and me. We’re just friends. She’s pregnant… My buddy is abroad, so I agreed to be her husband for a day, all because of my buddy.”

Explaining this, he must have found it laughable himself. As he spoke, his head hung lower and lower.

He didn’t dare meet my eyes.

“Yeah, don’t overthink it, sis. You saw my big belly, right? My man’s not here…”

Samantha spoke while holding Jason Lee’s hand.

When they exchanged glances, their connection was clear. I’d grown tired of seeing it.

Jason Lee came over to hold my hand, “I was just anxious and didn’t recognize you. Don’t overthink it, Samantha’s episode isn’t because of anything between us. My buddy came back once, and you know, after being apart for so long, it’s hard to hold back.”

I’ve heard Jason Lee’s lawyer talk before, but it’s my first time hearing such a lame excuse.

His “good buddy” had been studying abroad for three years. How could they have a child with Samantha?

I didn’t have the energy to argue with them. When Jason Lee left to buy food for Samantha, I asked some familiar medical staff to move me to a private room.

But when Samantha saw the nurses packing my things, she grabbed my hand.
