In My Dream
I dreamed of the first time I met Mia.
She was the daughter of the housekeeper who worked at the neighboring mansion. Every day, I’d see her curled up by the flowerbeds near the wall, waiting for her mother to finish her shift.
She looked so pitiful back then that I invited her over to play.
Leter Hoornod we attended the same school so I started giving her rides every day. We became inseparable.

In high school, I fell in love with Cole Parker.
Back then, Cole was the golden boy–handsome, wealthy, and the center of attention at our elite private school. As the heir to one of the richest families in Linton City, he was adored by everyone.
I was obsessed with him.
I did everything I could to get close to him, throwing away my pride and dignity in the process.
He loved racing, so I hired an F1 instructor to teach me how to drive, just so I could impress him at the track.
He loved wild parties, so I spent endless nights organizing the most extravagant gatherings, always coming up with new ways to keep him entertained.
Even when he got into fights, I was by his side, risking my safety to calm things down and make sure his reckless behavior didn’t anger his family.
Eventually, our families agreed on an engagement. Everyone said we were a perfect match–a power couple destined for greatness.
I believed it too.
No one else could possibly love Cole the way I did. No one else would be willing to reshape their entire life, sacrifice everything, and act so outrageously just to make him happy.
But reality had other plans.
It slapped me across the face with brutal clarity.
Some people don’t need to lift a finger to get what they want. They don’t care about rules, morality, or loyalty. They just stand there, and everything falls into their lap.
And the family I had always been so proud of? It crumbled into nothing with a single wave of her hand.
How absurd.
How pathetic.
And I had no way to fight back.
In the end, all I could see in my dream was Mia’s twisted, triumphant smile.
She leaned in close, her voice venomous and cruel.
“Lila Hayes, I’m going to make sure you lose everything. You’ll end up as nothing more than a stray dog on the street!”
I woke up with a start, my entire body trembling from the pain.
For a moment, my vision was blurry, but as I blinked, I began to make sense of my surroundings.
I was in a large, beautifully decorated bedroom. The elegant furniture had an old–world charm, and the faint aroma of chicken soup filled the air. A small cart sat beside the bed, holding a ceramic pot on a tiny burner, steaming gently. A pile of bandages and ointments rested nearby.
I tried to lift my hand, wincing as I noticed the IV needle taped to my bruised skin. Someone had carefully treated my wounds.
Not far from the bed, a tall figure stood by the window, his back turned to me. He wore a simple black shirt that fit him perfectly, highlighting his broad shoulders and lean, powerful frame. Even from behind, there was an unmistakable air of dominance about him–a raw, untamed
energy.
I shifted slightly, and a sharp pain shot through my body, forcing a low groan from my lips.
The man by the window turned around at the sound.

Our eyes met, and for a moment, my mind went blank.
I couldn’t believe it.
The man who had saved me… was none other than Cole Parker’s nemesis, Sebastian Ford.
