Kyle stared down at the girls. “If being friends with a guy labels you a gold digger, then maybe you should avoid men altogether.”
His expression turned serious as he added, “And just so you know. Lenore is my grandfather’s nominal daughter. She’s closer to me than any real aunt. So if anyone has the nerve to talk trashnbout her again, they’ll have to deal with me.”
Kyle hadn’t intended to share that detail; Lenore preferred to keep a low profile to steer clear of Troy’s antics.
But the rumors were spreading rapidly. Lenore seemed unaffected, yet Kyle felt anxious. If his parents found out she was being bullied at Greenvine High School, he’d be in big trouble, she decided to intervene before the situation worsened.
Dropping that piece of news was like a clear announcement that Lenore had someone significant backing her.
The air buzzed with the excited murmurs of the students.
“Did he just say something like nominal daughter and aunt? He got to be kidding me,” one student blurted out.
“Kyle, the school’s resident tough guy? No way he’s spinning tales Who in their right mind would claim someone as their aunt for a laugh?” another voice chimed in.
Think about it, Esther’s always showing up in high–end rides and rocking the latest fashions. If Lenore is really Esther’s sister, she looks way too shabby in comparison,” a third student roused.
“And there’s that rumor about Lenore being tied to her mom’s death back in the day… a hushed voice added.
“Who knows if it’s true? But Lenore just gives off this vibe, like she’s got a sign on her back saying ‘troublemaker, another commented nonchalantly.
“Hey, keep it down. You don’t want Kyle to hear you talking like that,” a cautious student warned.
“Look, we’re missing the full picture here. Let’s not pass judgment based on rumors. Let’s just drop it,” a more level–headed student interjected.
Feeling the weight of Kyle’s imposing aura, the group gradually fell silent and started to break up, each person lost in their own thoughts.
Inside the Arts Building, Esther was taking a quick break during lunch to practice her dance moves. A crowd of admirers had gathered at the door, and she was soaking up the attention when Helen burst in, panting and wide–eyed
“Esther, you won’t believe this!” Helen exclaimed, her words tumbling out in a rush. “Did you hear that Kyle called Lenore- his aunt?”
Esther stopped dancing, shocked. “What?” she asked, her voice led with disbelief.
Helen was still catching her breath but pressed on, her expression tense. Just a minute ago, Kyle said it right here on campus. He mentioned that Lenore is his grandfather’s nominal Haughter.”
Rumors swirled around Greenvine High School that Kyle might be the heir to the prestigious Zamora family, one of Denisville’s four elite clans. But he kept silent on the matter.

It was surprising that Lenore, a newcomer from a small town, go into Greenvine High School and quickly befriended Bonnie. Even more astonishing was her calmness after crushing $180,000 necklace. The rumor that she might be Kyle’s aunt was the most unbelievable part for Esther.
Esther’s pride quickly morphed into resentment. She bit her lip hard enough to draw blood, her face darkening with anger. Just as she was about to vent her frustration, her phone buzzed with a notification that Carlos had added her as a contact
Esther stared in disbelief, rubbing her eyes to make sure she wasn’t imagining things. It was really Carlos adding her on WhatsApp.
After the drama from the night before, Janet had been icy, ignoring all of Esther’s messages. And now, out of the blue, Carlos was reaching out to her, which caught her off guard.
Esther had tried to get Carlos’s contact info from Janet several times, but Janet never shared it.
Carlos wasn’t as stunning as the guy with Lenore, but he was still pretty attractive. Just the thought of potentially joining the Duncan family made Esther’s heart race.
Caught up in her excitement, Esther completely forgot about what Helen had just said about Lenore. After checking the notification, she quickly changed into her school uniform and hurried back to class.
.At Greenvine High School, gossip was everything.
The buzz around Kyle spread quickly, and by afternoon, everyone knew Lenore was his aunt. The news caused shock and chatter, but some students remained unfazed.
“No wonder Kyle was so attentive on the first day,” said one student with a knowing nod.
“Honestly, I think Lenore is just amazing, no matter what!” chimed in another.
As Jonas walked from the office to the classroom, he couldn’t help but smile at the buzz of gossip around him.
Ever since Lenore joined their school, she had immersed herself in her studies, blending her relaxed demeanor with genuine dedication. Her enthusiasm was infectious; Class 24 was more motivated than ever, and Jonas was pleased with the transformation.
In class, Lance had been listening to all the rumors and finally found the courage to ask Lenore a question. “Hey, Aunt Lenore,” he said, mixing curiosity with respect, “is it true what happened when you were four in kindergarten?”
