Lenore felt her annoyance rise just from seeing these people. With a frosty tone, she said, “Got anything else?”
The guy in the car shivered, feeling a chill run down his spine as he shrank back. “There’s a big meeting at the end of the month in Senanville. My dad asked if you’re going.
Lenore narrowed her eyes, clearly irritated. ‘Not interested. Get lost
Without another word, the guy drove off, not daring to stay any longer.
Fall had arrived, bringing a sharp chill and hinting at the dreaded winter ahead. Lenore fiddled with the smart band on her left wrist, struggling to shake off her growing frustration.
“Ms. Smedley.” A smooth voice cut through the air as a Porsche Cayenne rolled up.
Lenore looked up to see a striking man in the back seat. Instantly she put on her easygoing, carefree facade, mischief dancing in her eyes. “What’s up?*
Dressed in her school uniform, Lenore wore her black backpack haphazardly over one shoulder, her open collar showing a hint of rebellion. With her hands stuffed in her pockets and her long hair blowing in the wind, she looked both ethereal and stunning.
Who would guess that just days ago, this breathtaking girl was working as a mechanic in a small town, and only last night. she was out on the streets with traffic cops checking cars? Wayne, who was supposed to return to Denisville, thought to
himself.
He couldn’t help but poke his head out of the passenger seat, grning playfully. “You belong in a school or a palace, not a car repair shop. That just doesn’t suit you.”
Lenore glanced at him, her gaze lingering on the rear window. There was a cool defiance in her expression, mixed with a bit of distance and rebellion.
Silas, with rolled–up sleeves and an easy posture, rested his arm on the window frame, a black ring catching the light on his pinky. His deep voice cut in, “Where to? Need a ride?”
The scent of sandalwood wafted from him through the car window–clear and refreshing. Lenore ran her tongue over her teeth, admiring the ring. With her large school uniform sleeve subtly covering her smart band, she casually slid into the car.
Settling in, she pulled out her phone and started playing games with the volume up.
Wayne caught a glimpse and said excitedly, “Hey, add me as a friend so we can play together. I’ll give you
guidance.”
Lenore glanced at him and added him as a friend. Her game ID was AllAlone, and she was a top–tier player with 25 stars.
Wayne looked at his own low rank and felt a pang of embarrassment for boasting about guiding her. “Oh, that’s a little humbling, he wondered.
When he looked up, he met Lenore’s mildly amused eyes. He forced a grin and, without a hint of shame, said. “Please guide me. Wayne loved gaming but was very bad at it. Even Chuck usually didn’t want to play with him.
Lenore shrugged, unbothered. I’ll just switch to my smurf account.”

Five seconds later, Wayne stared at her so–called smurf account, which had a Diamond rank. His expression fell. He thought. “Wow… That’s not very damaging but definitely a blow to the
As they started a game right away, Silas squinted and casually asked Lenore, “Want to exchange contact info?”
Suddenly, the car wheels screeched, nearly veering off course. Chuck quickly regained control and awkwardly chuckled, “Oops, my hand slipped.”
Silas shot him a cold glare through the rearview mirror, then looked back at Wayne and met Lenore’s bright eyes, his expression unchanged. “Next time, I’ll have you fix my car.”
The car swerved again, causing Wayne’s head to hit the window. Silas steadied himself, his intense eyes narrowing. “If you can’t drive, let someone else do it.”
Chuck didn’t dare to say anything. Deep down, he muttered, ‘Since when did a guy like Mr. Faulkner, with such high status, ask for someone else’s contact info? Can he blame me for being surprised?”
Wayne shot a glance at Silas, almost bursting into laughter. He thought, ‘Here’s the feared heir to the Faulkner family from Denisville, fixated on a young girl and even bringing her into his home, yet he hasn’t even gotten her contact information. What a juicy bit of news! If this gets out, it’ll definitely be trending for at least two weeks.
