For someone like Ryan, I decided it was best to fight fire with fire.
In the afternoon, Amber waddled over with her big belly, carrying a suitcase.
Seeing this, Ryan didn’t offer to help. He spat on the ground:
“You women are useless. In the end, I still have to solve the problem.”
Amber frowned, looking embarrassed. Seeing me standing at the door, she immediately put on a smile and walked over:
“Snow, I heard your tenant breached the contract. Since my brother hasn’t found a place yet, how about this: I’ll pay you rent, and you can rent
the house to us.”
Hearing this, Ryan sneered:
“Does she dare not rent to us?”
I smiled too. I really did dare.
The elevator in the hallway dinged, and a man wearing a white tank top stepped out.
He was nearly 6’3“, all muscle, unlike Ryan’s flab. As they brushed past each other, Ryan froze.
“I’m sorry, but I’ve already found a tenant for this house.”
Zack was my former trainer at the gym. Three years ago, he came to this city with his mother for medical treatment. Many landlords were afraid of people dying in their houses and wouldn’t rent to them.
After hearing about my situation, Zack agreed without hesitation.
I also rented the house to him at a price below market value.
Ryan still maintained his arrogant attitude:
“You bitch, are you deliberately not wanting to rent the house to me? This guy isn’t your lover, is he? I didn’t expect your husband to be so generous, leaving the house for your lover after moving away!”
“Not being discreet while pregnant, who knows whose bastard child you’re carrying.”
Amber chimed in:
“Snow, you’d better ask him to leave. I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything today, and I’ll keep it a secret from Kevin too.”
The two of them sang the same tune, convicting me on the spot.
Zack shifted his body slightly, grabbing Ryan’s neck with one hand and leading him outside:
“Watch your mouth. If we men have something to discuss, it’s better to do it outside.”
Ryan struggled a few times but couldn’t break free. He could only curse:
“Let go of me! Do you want to die?”
As the two moved further away, Amber tried to follow, but I stopped her:
“Amber, I’ve always turned a blind eye when you took things from me before, but please don’t have such a strong sense of entitlement to other people’s assets.”
“Also, it’s indeed important to be discreet during pregnancy. Don’t you agree?”
