As the moving date drew closer, I started to wrap up some loose ends.
We couldn’t sell the house right away, so I contacted a real estate agent to rent it out.
As soon as I went downstairs, I ran into Amber talking to a strange man.
“Jack, are you really giving me such good skincare products?”
Amber’s voice was coy, her body twisting slightly towards the man.
Jack reached out and grabbed Amber’s waist:
“Who else would I give them to if not you? That yellow–faced wife of mine wouldn’t know how to use such nice things.”
“Did you eat the bird’s nest I gave you last time?”
As they spoke, the man’s profile came into view.
It was Amber’s former colleague, whom I had seen in group dinner photos on her social media before.
I just never expected Amber to have the guts to flirt with other men outside her marriage.
“If your wife finds out, you’ll be in big trouble.”
“What’s the big deal? It’s not like these are particularly expensive things. Your husband is really not human, not even knowing how to pamper you when you’re pregnant.”
Amber pouted slightly, her tone coquettish:
“Maybe it’s because I’ve lost my figure since getting pregnant. His soul has probably flown off to other women now.”
“How could that be? I’m about to be mesmerized just standing next to you.”
“Don’t say things like that. You’re making me blush.”
The two flirted back and forth. I took out my phone and recorded the scene before me.
It seems that since Amber couldn’t get any benefits from me anymore, she had turned to others for handouts.
My mother–in–law’s carefully selected daughter–in–law doesn’t seem to be living up to her expectations.
