When he pulled out the small hammer she used for her sculptures, panic flickered across her face. “Derek, what are you doing? Let me go!”
I watched as he brought the hammer down on her face, each strike punctuated by her cries.
“I’m sorry! Please, just stop!
“Ah! It hurts! It hurts so much!
“Please, I’m begging you! Just let me go!”
I had once begged like that, but Vanessa had just laughed and kept hitting me harder.
Derek glared at her. “You know Eva took more than ten hits before she finally went quiet, right? I’ll make sure you get at least double that!”
He controlled his strength, letting each blow hurt like hell but not finishing her off, just enough to ensure she felt every agonizing second.
I watched the scene unfold, feeling no satisfaction at all.
To me, this wasn’t about revenge. It was about him letting out all his pent–up frustration.
He couldn’t accept that he’d been played. He couldn’t face the fact that his entire world had
collapsed around him. Instead, he shifted all the blame onto Vanessa, but the truth was, he was
the real source of all this pain.
Vanessa was finally killed by Derek.
When the police arrived, they found her head crushed, just like mine, blood and bone
scattered everywhere.
It was a gruesome sight.
Derek cooperated fully with the officers, spilling everything. He insisted Vanessa deserved
what she got for what she did to me.
He was sentenced to death.
Before his execution, he slammed his head against the wall in a fit of rage.
Witnesses reported hearing him shout that he wanted to pay for my life and that he was
coming to find me.
In the end, he took his own life, creating a dent in his skull.
At that moment, as he breathed his last, my soul felt a rush of freedom.
I thought, “Derek, if there’s a next life, I’ll be sure to keep my distance from you!”
