Chapter 6
“Send me your location right now. I’ll get a car and come pick you up,” Henry said.
“That won’t be necessary. I’m in Seattle now.”
His voice rose immediately. “Everyone is in New Orleans! What are you doing in Seattle?”
“I decided to change my travel plans last minute. You all go ahead and enjoy; I won’t be joining,” I replied flatly.
“Camille, what kind of stunt are you pulling? We’re supposed to be on a family trip, and now you just go off on your own?” He raged.
“Exactly–we’re supposed to be on a family trip. But while you put me on a 36- hour hard seat train ride alone, you gave a first–class seat to an outsider. What exactly do you mean by that?” I sarcastically
retorted.

“I knew it. You‘ re still sulking over that? Camille, you’re so petty! It was just a train seat for crying out loud. We didn’t leave you behind.”
I laughed. “Oh, so I should be thanking you?”
“Camille, I don‘ t have time for this. Go wherever you want, but you better get our luggage back to us!” he snapped.
“Oh, right–I forgot to mention. Your luggage is gone,” I intoned coldly.
“What? Gone?!” Henry sounded both furious and panicked. “Camille, what were you doing? You couldn’t even watch over our bags? Our clothes, all our essentials were in those suitcases! How are
we supposed to manage the next ten days?”
“Well, don’t blame me. Who asked you to give me all eight massive suitcases? I’m not Gegenees; I don’t have huge body and six arms to manage all that by myself,” I

fired back.
In the background, I could hear Mallory‘ s voice. “Wait, the luggage is really gone?
My new designer bandages and all my La Mer products were in there–they’re worth thousands! And my clothes–it’s all designer brands!”
Henry quickly tried to calm her down.
“Don’t worry, Mallory. Camille lost your suitcase, so she‘ ll compensate you.”
He then barked at me, “Camille, transfer the money! You owe Mallory for everything she lost. And we need to replace our essentials. Transfer thirty thousand now, and if we need more, I’ll let you know.”
I laughed out loud. “Are you serious, Henry? I’m not obligated to babysit your luggage. You left it behind, not me. And let me remind you–I told you that you wouldn’t get a single cent more from me. Did you think I was joking?”

his number, along with his entire family‘ s numbers. I even put them all on my
blocked list on social media. I was finally ready to enjoy my trip without their nonsense hanging over me.
I let myself unwind, exploring the mountains and lakes, savoring the feeling of freedom. Ever since I married Henry, I’d been running myself ragged between work and home, never once as relaxed as I felt now. Starting today, I would be living for myself.
After two weeks of blissful travel, a call
came in from an unknown number. When
I answered, I was greeted by a furious
voice.
“Camille, you really went all out, huh? Blocking every number? What do you think you’re doing?! You’ve gone too far with your fucking tantrums!” Henry roared.
“If that’s all you’ve got to say, I’m not interested. Bye.”

“Wait, I’m not done! We got back from our trip three days ago. When are you coming home?” he anxiously asked.
“I’m not done with my vacation yet. I’ll be traveling a bit longer,” I replied.
Hearing my cold reply, Henry was
immediately exasperated. “It’s been over two weeks! How much longer do you need?”
