Henry was stunned. “Back then, didn’t you say this money didn’t need to be paid back?” His tone was laced with incredulity.
“I never said that. Pay up, now!” I urged.
In front of everyone, Henry pretended to be tough and formally wrote me a
promissory note. I was really glad I kept my wits and saved that note.
When Mallory saw the unexpected five hundred thousand debt, she was so furious she almost couldn‘ t stand.
In the end, Henry had no choice but to move in with Mallory‘ s family.
I sold the old house and hired a lawyer to help me recover the debt. Then, I packed my bag and set off on my world tour.
Later, I heard that Mallory and Nicole had a big argument at home, and Nicole pushed Mallory, causing her to miscarry.
