Chapter 9
“I’m sorry, Nellie,” Noel said, his voice. shaking. “I really am. But Rian and I… we’ve been together for so many years. She begged me, Cornelia. She was crying. How could I just do nothing?”
He pulled me into his arms, ignoring how I struggled against him. “Please, let me fix this. I’ll make her apologize to Mom. I’ll take her to her grave and have her kneel there, okay? Will that be enough?”
Apologize? To Mom?
What would that even do now? Could an apology bring my mom back?
I shoved him away with all the strength I had and slapped him hard across the face. “Noel, how can you even say that?!”
His cheek turned red almost instantly, but he didn’t fight back. Instead, he just stared at me, confused like he couldn’t understand why I was so angry. “Nellie,” he

said after a moment, “I swear, I’ll treat you better from now on. I only helped Rian because of our past, but that’s over now. Let’s stop dwelling on this. Shouldn’t we think about the future instead?”
His voice softened, almost pleading. “Holding onto the past won’t change. anything. Can’t you see that?”
I didn’t even look at him. I just turned around and started to leave.
But he grabbed my arm. “Don’t go. Please, Nellie.”
“Get out of my way!” I yelled, yanking my arm free. I glared at him, my voice trembling with rage. “You make me sick!”
I didn’t stop walking until I was far away. Even then, I could feel his gaze on me, heavy and desperate, but I didn’t look back.
When I got home, I took all the videos and chat logs I had and edited them into a single clip. Then, I uploaded it to a new account on Clipzy, a short video platform.

At first, it didn’t gain much attention. Frustrated but determined, I reached out to a friend who worked in media. They helped boost the video’s reach, and within hours, it exploded. It shot straight to the top of the trending list, with countless people sharing it. Comments and likes poured in by the thousands. Even reporters started contacting me, asking for details.
I explained everything on the platform, telling the full story and sharing all the evidence. The public reaction was
immediate. Noel and Brianna became the targets of a massive backlash.
Someone even enhanced the video quality, zooming in on Brianna’s face. Her identity was exposed, and the insults came flooding. in. People uncovered the agency she worked for and even Noel’s background.
Demands for accountability flooded official channels.
Later that night, Noel called me. His voice was shaking with anger.

he shouted.
“Nothing,” I replied coldly. “I just want justice.”
“For what? Your mom’s already dead!” he snapped. “Cornelia, how many times do I have to tell you–Rian knows she made a mistake! Why are you so obsessed with dragging this out? Do you want us to go down with your mom?”
He didn’t even give me time to respond. “You’re just using this for attention, aren’t you?” he accused. “You want to get famous. You don’t care if it’s at your mom’s expense. Have you ever thought about the consequences?”
Right. I wanted the fame–because with it, I could get justice for Mom.
He let Brianna treat Mon so horribly, and now Mom was gone, filled with regret. They needed to pay for what they’d done.
They deserved guilt. Pain. Sleepless nights.

Chapter 9
This wasn’t over. This was only the
beginning.
I didn’t care about the consequences! I just wanted justice for my mom!
When Noel realized I wouldn’t back down, his tone changed. It became cold. Threatening,
“If you don’t stop this, Cornelia,” he said slowly, “don’t blame me for what happens
next.”
I didn’t respond. Instead, I posted the recording of our call online. Then, I installed a hidden camera at my front door – and checked into a hotel nearby.
That night, just as I expected, some men came to my apartment. They were yelling, banging on the door, and threatening to kill
me with a knife.
