Chapter 15
In disbelief, he opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a word.
He was so stupid that he still thought she would wait for him there like before for so
many years.
I admit that I was a little insidious in this regard, but when I saw how caring Sophia. was for me, the burden in my heart. vanished.
After scolding him, Sophia blamed me with her eyes.
“Have you become stupid because of your rote learning? Don’t you know dodging his fist? I have never seen anyone standing there and getting hit?” she said.
Today was the anniversary of her father’s death. I assumed that was why she smelled
alcohol.
I knew some of her privacy and the reason

she never celebrated her birthday.
“Sophia, can I borrow you a second?” I bought a bouquet of flowers for her father and waited early outside her laboratory.
She was obviously stunned and didn’t quite understand what I meant.
“Senior, today is a special day. Let’s go to the graveyard.”
Over the years, she must come to visit the graveyard alone.
I heard all this from her best friend, Lily.
The sky was foggy, and it had started to drizzle. I held an umbrella and watched. her weeping silently. She didn’t look like an extraordinary scientist, but more like an ordinary girl.
Putting the flowers in front of the
tombstone, I reached out and gently patted her on the back.
“Your father must have loved you so much, Sophia. Do you think he would be happy if

he knew that you have been living in self- blame for so many years?” I tried to
comfort her.
Being stunned, she probably never thought anyone would ever say this to her before.
I didn’t continue.
I followed her back to school and watched
her return to her dormitory.
In the middle of the night, I received a
message.
Sophia: [Thank you!]

Chapter 16
Beneath his handsome face, Ethan was just a spoiled and naughty kid.
Seeing that Sophia had no intention of reconciling with him at all, he came up
with a dirty trick of asking someone to kidnap her.
Then, he would be her savior.
It turned out to be a real kidnapping. Sophia and I watched coldly as Ethan was beaten to the ground.
He was shocked and shouted at the kidnapper, “I paid for you! You can’t do this to me!”
And that was the moment I figured out that he plotted all of this mess.
Sophia must also have found it out.
Eventually, Taylor lost touch with us and called the police.

He thought of the recent frequent letters threatening the laboratory.
It was said that someone took a fancy to one of Sophia’s experimental projects and wanted to monopolize it with his capital, but she refused.
That irritated them.
After being rescued, she didn’t leave with me immediately.
Instead, she walked to Ethan and slapped him hard.
“I hope it’s the last time you pester me,” she
said.
His head was knocked off balance, and he said in a muffled voice, “I won’t make trouble anymore. Can you come back?”
She was so angry that she laughed. She looked at him conservatively, “Ethan, what’s gone is gone. Some things have already happened. There’s no need to look back.”

I looked at his cheeks which were quickly getting red and swollen and felt a little
envious.
She had never touched my face.
Just as I thought of this, Sophia took my hand, and my body involuntarily followed her forward. I couldn’t help but look back at that pathetic man.
Everyone in the Reed family wanted me to follow in my father’s footsteps, give up on scientific research projects, and go into
business.
They were used to being so arbitrary to make decisions for me without asking for my opinion.
It was ridiculous.
Being a CEO of a listed company could help. me pursue Sophia.
Meanwhile, her experimental team was stuffed with two academic losers who were

didn’t belonged to them..
And they shamelessly denied what they
had done.
When it was time to submit the data, Taylor discovered that they stole Sophia’s data and scolded them very awfully.
After that, she often walked past them. several times in a cocky manner.
In the end, it was Taylor who discovered it and questioned her.
“What’s going on?” he asked with a curious.
smile.
She shrugged. “It’s so funny that they copied my data and handed it in without. even looking at the project.
Patting her on the shoulder, he secretly gave her a thumbs up. “Well done.” Then, he went to appease those losers.
My hearing was pretty good.
I heard Taylor say to their initial tutor, “I

can forgive you this time, taking you as two kids accidentally copied others‘ data. Remember, you are not on the same level. as Sophia, so next time, you’d better come up with the data yourselves. Just take my advice as a person who has had the experience. Please take them back and give them a good rest. We will clean the mess. they left.”
The few words put a stop to the academic future of the two losers, and made them.
feel ashamed.
I admired his sophisticated way of handling such a scandal.
Someone patted my shoulder. I turned
around and met the smiling eyes of Sophia.
“Learn from this, don’t suffer a loss next
time.”
“You should pay more attention to something like this. Tell me next time, and I’ll help you get rid of them,” I said.
She was obviously dazed, and then she

smiled even more stunningly.
She touched my head. “You’ve grown up.”
It suddenly struck me that she treated me like her younger brother, which was not a good sign.

The project was completed, and there was a celebration party. Not many people came, and they were all acquaintances. Old men drank with old men, and young people chatted with young people.
Sophia was talking to Lily.
I drank and couldn’t help but be attracted by her gentle eyes. The wine tasted more. delicious, and I didn’t hear what others said
to me.
Nor did I know how much I had drunk.
It wasn’t until the celebration party was over that I became a little sober.
“Let’s go. Do you need me to take you to your dorm?”
Most people had left. Sophia and I walked together as we both lived in dorms.
The celebration took a longer time than I thought, giving me enough time to sober

- up.
“Sophia, let me take you there.”
I spoke clearly and expressed myself coherently so that she wouldn’t worry about me getting drunk. Although her figure was still a little blurry to me, she looked as stunning as ever.
Her lips were very rosy, and her slightly curly long hair had a charming curve.
As we walked, she praised me, “Your drinking capacity has improved. In the past, you would get drunk after one glass of wine, but now you are doing well. You have grown up.”
That was the tone of a sister praising her brother.
I stopped walking, and she took a few steps. ahead of me. Noticing I didn’t follow her,
she turned around…
I put my arm around her shoulders and said, “Sophia, please don’t treat me like

your brother.”
She said, “Okay.”
That was an unexpected answer.
“Maybe I can give you a try, little buddy.”
The joy crushed my head, and I realized it was not her drunk nonsense.
The beauty in my dream finally accepted me as her lover.
