The first time I met Sophia was at a cocktail party.
She easily rejected those people’s urging to drink, listened to conversation topics she didn’t like without too much comment.
Her independence detached herself from those tawdry people.
I knew I could never be her.
These people knew that I was the child that the Reed family had just retrieved, so they were not very familiar with me and some
even tried to force me to drink.
I was not a refuser and was forced to take
cups of liquor. My belly ached because of
the shock of the alcohol.
When Sophia noticed me, I already felt dizzy, and everything in front of me started
to blur.

She said, “That’s enough.”
Then, she drank up all the liquor for me,
took me out of the party, and even called a
taxi to send me home.
I was still dizzy in the taxi and could only
hear her voice.
She said, “I suggest you stay away from those people in case you will be bullied again. They are too much for you, young
master.”
Meanwhile, Ethan actually waited for me
outside the lab.
“Break up with Sophia. You are not suitable for her,” he said.
I laughed, believing there must something wrong with him.
Was he treating himself like a hero in the tragedy, trying to kick the man who stole his girlfriend out of love?

It was hilarious.
“That’s impossible,” I said.
The timing of this person coming up was
too coincident.
Sophia’s experiment was about to end. According to his information, she would be out in five minutes at most.
I said, “Mr. Smith, I’m not you. I won’t kiss. another girl in front of my girlfriend.
“And I will never ask my girlfriend to give in just for the pathetic self–esteem.
“Do you know what you are like now?”
I could hear Sophia talking on the phone. from behind me.
Taking a step forward, I tried to get as close to Ethan as possible and said, “You look like a fool whose brain nerve tissue is not fully developed. You want me to leave her? Just dream about it.”
The next second, he punched my face.

Her hands were really soft. She pulled me aside and checked the bruise on my face.
Then, she looked at Ethan with hatred.
She said, “Have you had enough of making trouble?”
