Chapter 10
I stayed up for two consecutive nights, tirelessly revising the plan that Taylor had provided me. Finally, on the morning of the third day, I completed the revisions and passed it on.
The leaders of this university hold Taylor in high regard and value his contributions greatly, which led to him being granted a laboratory for his work.
I left the laboratory yawning. Taylor gave me two days off so that I could catch up on some sleep.
As soon as I came out, I saw Maxwell coming towards me with a sandwich, and he put it directly in my hand.
He said, “Sophia, this is for you.”
I was surprised to have such a refreshing cucumber sandwich when the cafeteria only served meat these days.

Due to my hard work in the lab, I seldom managed to have meals on time, and the meat had the smell of blood that I really
couldn’t stand.
I took a bite of the sandwich. It was so
tasty.
Maxwell watched me finish eating, then brought me a glass of water and asked me expectantly, “Is it good?”
I nodded.
He breathed a sigh of relief. “Then, I’ll do it for you next time.”
I was so surprised by this sentence that I almost choked on the last bite of the
sandwich.
I looked up at him. “I didn’t expect your
could cook.”
He was a jack of all trades. Needless to say, his IQ must be very high since he could enter this lab.
Now, I knew he was pretty good at cooking.

Maxwell scratched his head.
He said, “When I was lost in childhood, an old man picked me up and took me home. During the day, he went out to collect trash, and I helped him with housework at home. I learned how to cook without
realizing it.”
As I drank the warm water, it struck me that children from poor families had to be mature as soon as possible.
I reached out and patted Maxwell on the shoulder.
“I’m sure your wife will be very happy,” I
said.
Maxwell blushed.
It made his fair skin look even cuter.
It was hard to imagine that he was about
my age.
On Tuesday, the project made great progress and the school provided us with funding.

Maxwell’s intelligence stunned me.
He was bold and careful in scientific research, making Taylor nod to him with appreciation frequently.
With his help and the hard work of everyone in the laboratory, the experiment finally achieved great results.
Taylor was so satisfied that he gave us three days off and paid for a trip to the next town for us.
This town was renowned for its gorgeous medieval castle where Lily had always longed to pay a visit.
After thinking about it, I took a picture of the ticket and posted it on Instagram and called Lily to see it.
Lily: [How dare you travel without me!]
Sophia: [Sorry, but this ticket is only for two people.]
Lily: [I don’t want to talk to you right now.] Then, she sent a cute emoji showing her

anger.
To get to the castle, we needed to take a horse–drawn carriage which only ran three times a day.
It had just rained a little in the early morning.
The carriage had a very aristocratic feel.
We went at a good time, and there were no other people in the carriage.
Only Maxwell and I came from the same country, and others went to visit the other parts of the castle.
“After you, Sophia!” he said.
