Chapter 26
As tears quickly dried on Mo Ya Rou’s cheeks, she maintained a distance from Percival, her expression still one of hurt, until Eleanor pushed through the door to his “Eleanor. where were you last night? Do you have any idea how hard I looked for you?” Percival’s voice was sharp, laced with frustration.
Eleanor glanced between him and Yu Rou before responding. I had a misunderstanding with Celeste. I’ve already issued a statement to clarify everything. Can you not blow things out of proportion?“”
Avoiding direct eye contact, Eleanor fell silent; she knew that Percival’s worry stemmed from believing she had shared a bed with Celeste, given his awareness of ber absence from their old apartment.
“But I wasn’t mistaken with Miss Celeste…” Eleanor continued calmly, “I’ve helped her countless times, and yet she turned on me. Am I really that easy to push around in your eyes?”
“Eleanor, Celeste was scared of the paparazzi and had to handle the situation that way,” Percival argued.
“Is that so?” Eleanor replied, skepticism evident in her voice.
“No matter what, it’s in the past now. Stop bringing it up. As for the Heavens Arts endorsement, you really should hand it back to Celeste. This opportunity is credil for ben. You’ve stepped back, and you won’t be walking the runway anymore, so getting the endorsement would do you no good.” Percival’s tone turned to one of command pressing Eleanor to relinquish the endorsement.
“Yeah. Eleanor, it’s been years since you’ve been on the runway. You must feel out of practice.” Celeste chimed in joining the persuasion. “Besides, the Heavens endorsement belongs to me. They thought I wouldn’t recover from my injury and picked you instead. You wouldn’t want to be a mere substitute, would you?” Eleanor’s response was icy. That’s quite rich coming from Miss Celeste.” Her retort drew a sharp rebuke from Percival.
“Eleanor, you’ve never acted like this before. If you love me, don’t take this endorsement. We need Celeste’s award to elevate our status for the company’s future.” His ultimatum hung thick in the air, threatening an emotional weaponization of their relationship.
Celeste couldn’t help but smirk internally, knowing Eleanor would go to great lengths for Percival; letting go of an endorsement would be a small price to pay. “Percival, you should call Heavens Arts and let them know that Eleanor is considering the wedding and won’t be taking any endorsements.“Celeste ggested sm Percival nodded, reaching for the phone on his desk, but Eleanor swiftly pressed her hand against it. “I’ve decided… I’m taking the endorsement “Eleanor.“Percival was taken aback; Eleanor never opposed his decisions,
“Don’t forget, I’m still a model for Heavens Arts. I’ve already spoken with Mr. Eugene, their founder. He’s looking forward to our collaboration.”
