Chapter 4
He waited and waited, but didn’t see anyone. He picked up his phone and dialed the number, only to find that this number was saved in his phone.
As soon as Krista’s name caught Frankie’s eye, she froze in place.
He took out the agreement from the document bag and was about to open it and read it carefully when a glaring car light came toward
him.
He half–covered his eyes and looked up, and upon seeing Krista’s figure, he became suspicious and raised the documents in his hand to question her.
“Divorce property division agreement? Krista, what do you mean?”
Krista was also surprised to be caught by him, but she calmly lied, meeting with Elvis.

Frankie that everything was not as simple as she had said..
He frowned and was about to open the agreement to see what it contained, but a hand reached out from behind and grabbed his arm.
“Frankie, didn’t you go to meet the client? Why haven’t you come back yet?”
Watching Rosa approach intimately, Frankie immediately became flustered and at a loss, not daring to look at his wife’s expression
and unsure of how to explain.
Rather than explaining, he would rather not push away Rosa, who was approaching him at that moment.
Krista, however, was calmer and more composed than he had imagined.
She took two steps forward, took the agreement from his hand, slightly bowed, and spoke with a distant tone.
The night breeze blew through the car window, causing strands of hair to flutter.
All the way, scenes of Rosa appearing next to Frankie kept replaying in Krista’s mind.
Perhaps having been hurt too many times, she no longer felt any heartache at this moment, only endless exhaustion.
Was the cooling–off period really such a long period of time, lasting for thirty days?
She rubbed her sore eyes and, not paying attention, didn’t see the car in front of her reversing illegally, and crashed into it directly.
After a loud bang, her leg got stuck in the deformed car door, and blood gushed out..
In an instant, her face turned pale, and a cold sweat broke out on her forehead.
Under the intense pain, she managed to stay rational and contacted 120 emergency services.
After entering the emergency room, the doctor examined her and found that it was not a fatal wound, but still required a thinor surgical procedure. They also asked her to contact her family.
Krista’s parents were far away in another province, so she called Frankie.
He didn’t answer any of the dozen or so calls.
Remembering that he now has colleagues and friends accompanying him, the person he secretly admires is also by his side, most likely enjoying a lively conversation about life over drinks.
How could there be time to answer her call?
The nurse on the side, seeing that she couldn’t reach anyone, couldn’t help but ask.
“Can’t my husband really come?”

“Can’t my husband really come?”
Krista shook her head, her tone rather indifferent.
“We have already divorced, and it will be completely over in just over ten days.”
The nurse did not expect this situation, and a look of astonishment appeared on her face.
“Isn’t he still in the marriage period? Let’s ask him to come over and sign the document.”
When Krista thought about the three years of married life, she had many emotions in her heart.
In order to have a meal with him, she had waited until late at night countless times, but all she got was his excuse of working overtime and not coming back.
In order to have common topics with him, she went to learn about laws and regulations, but her confidence was completely shattered by his remark as an outsider.
In order to make him happy, she specially prepared a birthday surprise, but all she got was him saying he was tired and had no energy.
From beginning to end, she was the only one who maintained this relationship unilaterally.
Every single thing was evidence that he had never loved her.
Frankie wouldn’t come, and Krista couldn’t deceive herself anymore.
“What’s the point of a husband who can’t even be reached when his wife has been in a car accident?”
The nurse sighed after listening, her eyes filled with sympathy.
“Let’s invite friends over.”
Over the next few days, Kylie Hudson took care of Krista.
Frankie received the news and rushed to the hospital four or five days later. As soon as he entered, he saw the wound on her ankle and a look of confusion appeared on his face.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you had a car accident?”
Krista wanted to explain, but when she looked up and saw his expression, she inexplicably remembered those dozen phone calls.
She swallowed the words stuck in her throat, with a faint smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.
“You were busy, so I didn’t want to bother you with this minor illness.”
Upon hearing her words, Frankie felt a twinge of guilt and decided to explain the events of the past few days thoroughly.
