Chapter 25
you saw that album?TM
“Did you decide to divorce because you saw
Frankie asked the perplexing question that had come up.
Krista did not hesitate and answered him honestly.
“Yes, and no. This thought had been there for a long time. The photo album was just the catalyst. Even if I hadn’t seen the photo album, one day in the future, I couldn’t bear it anymore and would have asked for a divorce.”
Her confident tone made Frankie feel guilty again
“I didn’t do well enough, you have so many complaints about me, why didn’t you tell me?
Krista glanced at him, her tone light and casual.
“You didn’t tell me either, do you like Rosa? I was just imitating you and chose to remain silent.”
Seeing that she was still misunderstanding, Frankie hurried to explain.
“I used to like her, but that was a long time ago. After getting married, I slowly let go of her and want to live a good life with you…”
Krista didn’t want to listen to his feeble and pale words, so she interrupted him directly.
“I don’t care when you let go of her, and I don’t care if you truly love me. Because everything has already passed, I don’t want to waste my energy on things that are not worth it, do you understand what I mean?”
Looking at her clear and determined eyes, Frankie could only swallow back the explanations he had prepared for a long time.
His hands were tightly clasped together, his knuckles turning pale from exertion, and his eyes were filled with deep helplessness and
sadness.
Krista didn’t care at all about what his current mood was.
She was just glad that the world had quieted down again. She took out her headphones and put on an eye mask, ready to rest and relax.
The plane flew over Raytown, soaring high above the clouds.
The cabin quieted down, Frankie turned his head and looked at the peaceful sleeping face that was so close. The tumultuous emotions that had been swirling in his heart slowly calmed down
She resisted him bringing up the past so much that he had no choice but to give up.
But that doesn’t mean he gave up.
Two hours later, the plane landed at Redshore Airport.
Krista was pushing her luggage to get on the car when she caught a glimpse of Frankie standing behind her through the rearview mirror, and couldn’t help but give him a sideways glance.
“Everything that should have been said and shouldn’t have been said, has already been said. Do you still want to bother me?”
“It’s not like we’ve completely clarified everything, it’s just that we’ve brushed off the matters after getting married. But for the seven years before that and the rest of our lives, we still have things to talk about, don’t we?”
“Isn’t it just that I had a secret crush on you for seven years, and we went our separate ways after the divorce for the rest of our lives? What is there to talk about?”
Frankie quietly watched her.
Despite having gone through so much together, when he sees her now, the first scene that comes to his mind is still the moment when she confessed her feelings to him for the first time.
Back then, he politely declined her love, thinking that their story would end there.
Who would have thought that this story would continue for ten years without a proper ending?
But this time, it was him who chased after her footsteps.
“The past has already been determined, but the future is uncertain, K
Krista, don’t draw conclusions so early,”
Ten years later, Krista stood frozen in place upon hearing these words again.
She lifted her head and looked at him standing in front of her with his hands behind his back, and the dusty memories in her mind loosened.
At nightfall, on the square of Southford University, warm y yellow lights
s illuminated the hurried pedestrians.
Krista stopped Frankie in front of the library, blushing and mustering up the courage to confess. As expected, she received a simple “thank you” in response.
At that moment, she was filled with frustration and annoyance, unable to resist grabbing her hair.
A soft laugh came from above her head, and as she looked up, she saw the faint smile at the corner of his lips.
Back then, she was filled with passion and stubbornness, mistakenly thinking that he was mocking her, so she earnestly told him a
sentence.
“Now you didn’t like–me yet, but the future is uncertain, Frankie, don’t draw conclusions so early.”
No one had expected that, after many years of twists and turns, this sentence would pass through time and space and fall on the ears of two people again.
