BOOK 1–Chapter 1
“Hello, I wanted a divorcel”
In the third year of their marriage, Krista Garner decided to get a divorce.
However, she kept it a secret from her husband,
The lawyer across from her listened to her intentions and responded in a formal manner.
“If you wanted a divorce, both husband and wife would need to sign a divorce agreement, and then it would be sufficient for the cooling–off period of one month to end. Did your husband not come today?”
Krista remained silent for a few seconds and said, “I would make him sign it.”
“Alright, I will draft a divorce agreement for you first.”
After waiting for a moment, Krista received the agreement.
She recalled the things that had happened during this period while she lowered her head and went downstairs.
Just as she reached the front desk, a familiar voice called out to her.
“Krista? What did you come to the law firm for?
As she looked up, Krista’s heart skipped a beat when she met Frankie Barnes‘ penetrating gaze that could see through everything. Who would have thought that she would come for a divorce and seek advice from the lawyer who happened to be her own husband? However, he wouldn’t have noticed, after all, he had never cared about her.
With this in mind, she took a deep breath, attempting to conceal the nervousness in her voice.
“I came to consult about something Oh, by the way, the house that Mom and Dad mentioned last time, they have prepared the transfer documents and they need you to sign ”
She spoke as she took but the divorce settlement in her hand, flipping directly to the last page and pressing it on the table, then she handed over the pen.
At the end of this agreement, there was only one item to be signed, and as a lawyer, Frankie’s professional habit made him furrow his brow.
He was about to take it over to have a closer look when he caught a glimpse of the familiar figure at the elevator entrance. He hesitated for only a second before taking the pen and signing his name where Krista indicated.
“Alright, there’s nothing else. You can go back first; I still have work to do.”
Krista’s heart, that was hanging up fell down, but immediately a trace of self–mockery flashed through.
If he had just taken one more look, he would have known that what he signed was not a property agreement at all, but a divorce settlement.
Unfortunately, just now his gaze was completely stolen by Rosa Park who had just entered the door.
Looking at that beautiful face, Krista’s heart was filled with mixed emotions
The hand holding the bag involuntarily tightened and turned away from the law firm.
After the automatic glass door closed, two voices faintly reached her ears.
“Frankie, who was that just now?
“A new client came to seek advice on divorce,” Frankie’s cold voice carried a hint of tenderness, “Why did you suddenly come so early? Wait for a few minutes, and I’ll take you downstairs for a meal, alright?”

Hearing the almost deafening noise inside, and looking at the divorce agreement signed in her hand, Krista wore a bitter smile.
Yes, indeed, I came to seek advice about divorce.
Soon, as long as the last month passed, Frankie would be able to achieve his wish.
Krista and Frankie were secretly married.
No one knew they were a couple, including his beloved girl, except for their parents.
He made the decision to have secret marriage.

Until after graduation, she was busy with work while he continued his studies. There was no interaction between the two of them anymore, but she never forgot about him.
Two seemingly parallel lines intersected three years later due to a blind date.
On their first blind date, Frankie wasted no time and asked her if she had any thoughts of getting married.
Although she didn’t know why he was in such a hurry to get married, Krista couldn’t help but feel excited as her long–time wish was finally about to come true. Assuming that it was his family who was pressuring him, she didn’t even think twice before agreeing. After marriage, she slowly discovered his secret.
He seemed to be not disinterested in women but rather had someone he liked very much in his heart, who was impossible.
That girl’s name was Rosa, she was the younger sister of his good friend Alden Park.
He was five years older than her, so she always treated him as her older brother. This relationship was destined to be a mutual affection.
Rosa was unaware of his hidden affection and got married to her boyfriend of three years immediately after graduation.
Frankie was deeply hurt and, in order to quickly recover from the emotional pain, she hastily got married under the intense pressure from her parents to settle down
After knowing the truth, Krista felt devastated for a long time, but eventually, she pulled herself together.
