Chapter 4
When the plane reached its destination, it was just in time for sunrise.
The sun had not yet broken through the clouds, but it was already casting layers of light through them.
It seemed determined to pierce a hole through the clouds and leap out.
The sight was inspiring.
The sunrise meant a new beginning.
It was a good sign.
As the dawn light touched my face, the plane landed on the ground.
Just as I exited the check–in area, I saw my ‘unreliable‘ brother jumping up and down in the crowd.
“Tara, over here,” Jeff Levy called out.
I walked over and flicked his forehead.

I said, “You’re a grown man, act your age.”
He exaggeratedly yelped, making me laugh.
Then, he opened his arms wide, his eyes. welling up with tears.
I hugged him without a word.
Eight years ago, I left the company and my
parents to pursue happiness.
Meanwhile, Jeff had transformed from a carefree youth into a successful businessman, managing the company and taking care of our parents.
I owed him for all he had done.
I said, “I’m sorry, I won’t be so selfish
anymore.”
Jeff said, “What are you talking about? You’re my sister. You can be selfish whenever you want, I’ve got your back.”
When we arrived home, the house was filled with the aroma of food. The table was

full of my favorite food.
My mother looked at me with tears in her
eyes.
She said, “You’ve lost weight. You’re not leaving again, right?”
Before I could respond, my father glared at
- me.
He said, “Leaving again? If you dare, don’t call me Dad.”
My mother hit him with a spoon.
She said, “Shut up. It was you who drove Tara away in the first place. Do you want to do it again today?”
I graduated from Harvard Business School.
Right after graduation, I took over the family business.
However, my father and I had different visions for the company. He didn’t listen to my advice to support domestic enterprises and instead pursued maximum profits.

Chapter 4
After a big argument, I left the company and returned to our home country to clear my mind. It was during this time that I met Connor.
In retrospect, I was too young and
impulsive. I was angry at my father for forgetting his roots and for interfering with my decisions even though he had supposedly handed the company over to
- me.
Looking at my father’s unyielding expression, I let go of my mother and hugged him.
I said, “I’m sorry, Dad.”
They had never heard me apologize before.
For a moment, my father was at a loss.
He asked, “Baby girl, did something happen to you?”
I shook my head, and as I did, tears began to fall. Then, I started to sob
uncontrollably.

I didn’t know why, but even though I had let go of the past, the concern from my family still brought out all the bitterness and grievances I had been holding inside.
