Chapter 11 – Poison
FREYA
I stood in front of the mirror, my heart racing with excitement as I twirled in the wedding gown. The delicate fabric flowed around me, shimmering under the shop’s soft lights.
I couldn’t help but smile, imagining the look on Roy’s face when he saw me in this dress. I couldn’t believe it’s been three days since I agreed to marry him. Time seemed to fly by quickly.
“What do you think, Sarah?” I asked,
turning to Sarah, who was sitting on a plush chair nearby.

Sarah’s eyes sparkled with joy. “Oh, Freya,
you look stunning!” she exclaimed, her voice warm and full of affection. “I’m so happy you‘ re back with Roy. After everything Raina tried to do, it feels like a victory.”
I nodded, my heart swelling. “It does. I never thought we’d get through it, but here we
are.”
Raina had done everything she could to keep us apart, but love had prevailed, and now I was standing here, one step closer to marrying the man I adored.
After trying on a few dresses, I finally found the one. It was a classic gown with intricate lace detailing and a flowing train that made me feel like a princess. I took a deep breath,

looking at Sarah’s reaction.
“This is it!” I declared, twirling once more to see the full effect.
“Oh, Freya! It’s perfect,” Sarah said, her voice thick with emotion. “You‘ ll be a
beautiful bride.”
“Thank you, Sarah. That means so much coming from you.”
As I stepped out of the dress and into my regular clothes, Sarah reached into her bag. “I have something for you,” she said, her expression serious yet excited. She pulled out a beautiful diamond hairpin, glimmering in the light. “This has been in our family for generations. I want you to wear it on your wedding day.”

I gasped, “Oh, Sarah, it‘ s gorgeous! I can’t believe you‘ re giving this to me.”
“I was supposed to give it to you before but for some weird reason I couldn’t find it,” Sarah said with a frown.
Tears of joy filled my eyes as I hugged her tightly. “Thank you! This means the world to me.”
But just as I pulled back from the embrace, I noticed something was off. Sarah’s face suddenly paled, and before I could react, she collapsed.
“Sarah!” I cried, panic surging through me as I knelt beside her. “Oh my God, wake up!”
I felt my heart racing, a cold fear gripping me

as I shook her gently. “Sarah, please!” I looked around the shop, my voice trembling.
“Someone help! We need help!”
The bridal consultant rushed over, her face
turning serious as she assessed the situation.
“What happened?” she asked, kneeling beside us.
“She just collapsed,” I said, my voice shaky. “She was fine a moment ago. Please, we need to call an ambulance!”
“Stay calm, Freya. I’m going to call for help,” the consultant said, already reaching for her phone. I felt a wave of nausea wash over me as I cradled Sarah‘ s head in my lap, tears streaming down my cheeks.
“Please, Sarah, wake up,” I whispered,

desperation clawing at my throat.
Finally, the sound of sirens broke through my panic, and relief washed over me.
A few minutes later we arrived at the hospital and Sarah was rushed into the emergency room. I stood at the door pacing around, my heart filled with sadness.
“Freya!”
I turned around to see Roy walking toward me, his
eyes filled with worry. In my haste, I
had forgotten to text him.
“The consultant told me what happened,” he said to me.
I nodded as I hugged him, tears streaming
down my
cheeks.

“She was fine one minute and the next
minute she passed out. I don’t know what happened,” I cried.
“It’s alright. I’m sure she will be fine,” Roy said to me.
At that moment the doctor stepped outside of the emergency room with a frown on his face.
“Doctor, how’s my grandmother?” Roy
asked him.
The doctor shook his head, “It’s not looking good at all.”
“What’s wrong?” I demanded.
I couldn’t bear the thought that something had happened to her.
“She’s been poisoned,” the doctor
announced.
